🏀 2026 UVa Basketball Preseason

Yeah, I think it’s length and frequency of practices, but I don’t know the details.

I think that over the years, summer workouts or whatever have gotten more frequent so that’s why there’s not as much of a difference

8 hours/week between strength and conditioning, film, skill instruction, team meetings that have a skill or tactical component to them, etc before official practice starts, which goes up to 20 hours/week when practice starts.

Noticed that this free analytics site is relatively up to date with rosters (or at least ours is up to date):

Has us at #21. I like that there’s a rating of each player’s contribution, as well as the roster profile thingy that shows how each team ranks on the different factors that go into the overall rating.

Yes. Vide is going to get more run than some people think. Probably 10 to 12 minutes a game.

Totally different situation but maybe Vide could be our Ugo of this year. Obviously not in terms of his role/position but rather as a reclamation project success story. Another highly regarded/recruited kid who bounced around and has not lived up to his prior hype. Ugo had more success at Kentucky than Vide had at UCLA but still there are some similarities. Still don’t expect Vide to play a large role but it seems like he may be a bit better than the staff was assuming.

Define “strong”

I feel like this is where most of us thought he’d be, in the 10-12 mpg range, give or take. Am I wrong on that?

He doesn’t say what type of strong impression. :eyes::eyes:

If Vide can play 10-12 solid minutes a game as a backup PG, and he can keep things running well while Chance is on the bench, that provides a nice boost.

It does, however, likely mean it’s going to be very difficult for Eli to see the floor. I was hoping he could carve out a role (maybe he still can), but it’s tough to see a consistent role for him when he’s fighting with Vide, Harmon, Lewis, Dixon, and Adekunle. Minutes will be hard to come by.

if he is running point he will need some consistent help bringing the ball up against pressure. He will get swarmed no doubt.

My read from Cuts breakdown was that the types of things Vide might struggle with are not the types of things that Vide would see much of in summer workouts:

  1. a scouting report
  2. pressure defense targeted against his handle

Lots of good quotes in here from Thijs and Johann

Noon.

I think time got moved up because they added a third game (South Carolina women’s)

Not sure if posted yet but good listen. Also acknowledge Adekunle.

Biggest takeaway was Grünloh praise. We were on par defensively with Michigan with Grünloh on the floor last season. He’s blowing up this season.

I was wondering which two guys Odom was going to pick (was guessing Chance and Thijs), but I had not considered he would just bring all the for sure starters:
