ACC dropped our conference opponents for 2027. We get Louisville, Pitt, SMU, and Virginia Tech at home. Boston College, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, and Stanford on the road. Pretty tough schedule

Hoos coming to the Flats for the first time in 4 years. Dragon locking in now to be ready.

Georgia Tech @ Notre Dame in 2027 was cancelled today. We still need a P4 opponent, Notre Dame needs a 5th ACC opponent (assuming the Clemson series doesn’t count still).

We are probably going to South Bend

I guess we deserved it after two years of easy schedule but 2027 might be rough

If we add ND as well then I’d prefer to try to flip the roster a bit next season, assuming we have another good year this year. Would like to prioritize guys with multiple years of eligibility left and build for another multiyear run starting in 2028. After two good seasons, I think we could afford a “down” season, hopefully still 6+ wins, especially if Tony communicated his long term vision for it.

The good news is a lot of the easiest games are on the road (Stanford, BC, UNC), as well as the hardest (Miami, potential @ ND) , so you might go 3-2 there regardless of location plus your two buy games is 5-2, and that leaves 4/5 of your ‘coin flip’ games all at home

BC and Stanford are wins and Miami is a loss regardless of location, so glad they’re on the road. TBD on UNC, but could be in the heavily favored category too.

Edit: or what csd said

I’m torn on the schedules tbh. It’ll be great to see where we’re at as a program and where we need to go. On the bad side, we could go .500 or just above and kind of get the old narrative back….

This is a fun read in light of my post above…

Asked when he thinks fans and reporters will stop talking about the Peach Bowl, Braverman replied:

… at least until September 17, 2026.

I was at that game. Our seats were terrible though: we dutifully bought bowl tickets through VSAF and got seats behind the goal posts close to field level. Never made that mistake again.

In any case, as the article points out, Brooks had Georgia on its heels driving the team down the field to get us in FG range. Then Coach Welsh goes super conservative and runs Jones up the middle twice for a loss of 4 yards, leading to a 48-yard FG attempt. We were all yelling WTF?? And Braverman’s kick was just a bit wide. Another Brooks pass play or two probably would have gotten us in range.

48 yard miss unacceptable.

I still remeber the flurry of cow stuffed animals after the TDs. Lol!

Yeah, welsh tried to line up the FG down the middle and shoulda pushed for a few more yards.

Coach Welsh not going for it vs. GT in '90 on the goal line opened the door for the Scott Sisson nightmare. I still have not fully worked through that trauma.

Other than UMBC, the most upset I’ve ever been over a UVa loss.

How about the ‘92 Clemson game? Ranked #10, up 28-0 at half, lost 29-28. At home.

Yeah, that one hurt. Hurt even more because I attended with my (non-hoo) ex-girlfriend who was a die hard Clemson fan. Fortunately, I didn’t rub it in in the first half, but damn that was a hard one.
