BC shot 6-36 (16.7%) in the first half against UNC. Getting obliterated and looking awful doing it.

Did actually tune in for the 2nd half after I saw we weren’t getting killed at halftime

Wonder if this is a game where we dont see Jayden as much in return for putting Taine/Stattmann as a small ball 4 to guard him. Reece Kihei and Armaan should be able to defend their perimeter well. Kadin can make life difficult for Bacot and Papi is there to rough him up and give 5 fouls as well.

Our hedging against Cuse actually morphed into a wing trap 3 or 4 times. I dont recall seeing that before out of the packline but i like it. It was disruptive and created a steal or 2.
Dean Smiths UNC teams would trap on the wings. It was a staple of his defense when needed. It drove teams crazy.

Yea we did a good job hedging but Kadin really goes at it hard. Makes me nervous
They always brought that in the second half and it was real. Would be like Derrick Phelps and Eric Montross trapping you near half court. Very effective
Yes! I felt it caught Cuse off guard. We can be so predictable at times.

So TB using different personnel at different positions And the traps way away from the hoop. And employing different attack vs Cuse zone.
Sounds like coaching adjustments to me…

Yes you could count on it in the 2nd half. It totally disrupted the other teams offensive rhythm. That trap plus the 4 corners offense caused me to loathe UNC. Looking back tho Dean Smith was a basketball genius.

Totally genius. Moreso because they never adjusted til half time. Never. I think Coach Smith would smoke a cigarette outside the locker room and make the adjustments

I liked the traping, especially when Jesse Edwards was out with those fouls. The Cuse guards weren’t even looking for the other bigs when they slipped the screens, meaning Kadin could just trap Boeheim with Reece.

I had no idea it that was from the coaches or just an extra hyped up Papi ha. He woulda followed the guard to the locker room
I loved it. Immediately i pictured Carolina Blue uniforms. I grew up feeling crushed by that trap

Exactly! We should always have 2 such “3 star” players on the roster at any time that are here to develop over a 4 year period.
They should be spread out as 1st and 3rd years or 2nd and 4th years on our roster at all times.
