The end of Boeheims career is getting a little sad. Not that he gives a damn. Do they really try bringing the sons back for another round next year?
They have to right? All go down with the ship together. It’s not like he’s pounding the recruiting trail to go for one final run
If they bring back the boeheims, another transfer exodus? Would we kick rocks with Benny Williams, doesn’t play much but neither did the other syracuse transfer outs who are doing okay at their new places. Could use that young bouncy forward
It baffles me why Kenpom and most of the other analytics sites think VaTech is so good (still 41st?). They’re 2-6 in the ACC and ESPN’s BPI is giving them an 81.3% probability of beating Miami tomorrow. What?
Same thing happened with UNC football this year. They were favorited in so many of their games.
Margin of loss/vlctory. VT tends to lose close but massacre people in their wins. KenPom likes that.
One nice thing about Torvik vs Kenpom is the splits you can do. When you look at v top 50, Tech is 109. We are 103.
Basically the Wofford boys whooped up on Wofford competition but don’t play well against good competition.
Oh can you do UNC?
Heh. 151.
Ahhhh. Tech losing makes me smile. Tech losing on a last second half court shot, warms my soul.

With this loss Lunardi now giving tech 4 straight byes. Going directly to Final Four.
That was crazy
UNC wins shooting under 30% from the field. Crazy town. Looked terrible
I read through the ESPN piece on Louisville’s coaching search and now I get why their fanbase is so excited about Pearl. It isn’t impossible that they’ll get Cronin (though it seems wildly unlikely) so they have to at least call (probably after the NCAAs are done), and a lot of the other names being batted around just re-signed and have huge buy-outs. Louisville’s pockets are deep, but $12M just to buy out Oats is probably a bridge too far.
Of the people who are realistically gettable, Pearl’s probably the top of the list.
I’ll say this: Last year’s Virginia Tech team would not have lost this game to 1st place Miami. They would have had COVID.
Tech now has a tough game @ Florida State on Saturday, so the question is — has a team ever played 20+ games, been under .500 (10-11 if they lose Saturday) and been in the KenPom top 50? Tech could fall 5 spots and still be in lol
There was a Purdue team in the top 25 that was 15-13 or something like that
Two years ago Minnesota finished 27th in kenpom with a losing record. It was the year the Big 10 had insanely good metrics across the board. Basically every conference game other than Nebraska and Northwestern was a quad 1 opponent.
Smoke for Louisville is Kenny Payne, with Nolan Smith from Duke as assistant (think there’s a connection there but idk what. No idea off top of my head if Nolan Smith is an assistant or end of bench staff member for Duke right now). Also Milt Wagner which their fans are not happy about (just smoke though) cause he’s been far removed from coaching, wasn’t a great assistant coach at Auburn, and probably would only be hired to steal DJ Wagner away from Kentucky/G League.
Half their fans want a new ad in place first and then have that ad hire their own coach instead. Im okay with this approach because it gives us more time to #flipkalebglenn. Also this sounds a lot like our football search with fan/alumni noise LOL
