Interesting match-up tonight between a 6-0 Wake team and a 6-0 LSU team. Wake has played nobody to date, but would be a nice win if they could pick up the upset.

I shouldn’t be suprised but I’m always shocked at how poorly Wake performs every yr

Alright moving on from last nights debacle. Big chance for a Q1 win tomorrow night. How much of a shot do we have?

I don’t know jack about this Iowa team other than the fact they haven’t played anyone but have put up ridiculous offensive numbers.

Great offense and non existent defense was their staple past 2 years

We’re going to find out what happens when a stoppable force meets a movable object

We need the atmosphere in JPJ to be real real.

Iowa has not played any power conference teams and did not participate in a holiday tourney. Hard to know what we are up against other than we know they score and don’t defend well typically.

It’s been a little quiet this yr.

I’ll be there doing my part. Break over so hopefully the students turn out.

Yeah, honestly we know nothing about them except past results. This season they’ve played the 4th easiest schedule in all of college basketball and only home games on top of that. So, sure, they look amazing (they’re good at basically everything on offense, guard the 3 point line pretty well but are otherwise ok but not great on D), but their TOUGHEST opponent so far was significantly weaker than Georgia or Navy and they’ve played multiple teams much worse than

If UVA opened the season with 6 straight games at home against Coppin State level opponents (on average), we’d look pretty good, right? That’s Iowa.

Edit - I hate typing on my phone.

Edit2 - TL;DR - We don’t know they aren’t good. Thy might be, we just don’t k ow. Their offensive looking great and their D looking “pretty good” against that levrlmof opposition suggests their historic trend is probably still accurateZ

Unfortunate we are playing them this year when both teams are in a rebuild. I’ve really wanted to play Iowa when we are both good due to the differences in styles and coaching personalities.

Iowa lost most of their contributors from last year (Garza, Wieskamp, Frederick) but still have some nice pieces, including a likely first rounder (Keegan Murray) and a 7th year and some Boeheim esque coaches kids (more Jimmy than Boddy) who shoot, hanging around. Have played all cupcakes but have been blowing them out. Hard to say how good they are. They still have a very good offense. May be a good test for our current good defense / no offense strategy.

Parrish and Goodman’s top 25s both have only one ACC team: Duke at #1. Now watch us clean up in the B1G challenge… Then back to buy games next Friday against Pitt. What’s that? I’m being told that’s actually an ACC team…

Miami nearly gave up 100 to Alabama in an annihilation. Not great. I can’t wait to weirdly struggle in a strangely close game under their weird florescent-looking lighting set-up in Coral Gables.

Miami was my pick for surprise ACC team.

Surprise! They still stink.

Iowa -1.5

But their toughest opponent so far was Longwood (#204 in KenPom). Seems like a good situation for us
