Big difference is Traudt is filled out, Jay was rail thin as a frosh

I could be wrong, but I think Traudt will play a good amount next year. You might be right, but I think Tony really likes this class and is going to give them more leash because of their potential. Plenty of guys from the '16 class played immediately through defensive struggles because the roster was weak their first year and their potential was apparent. I’d bet we see the same, but who knows.

For real - Jay was nowhere near ready to play immediately and I’m fairly certain he and his family knew that too. Was always a developmental path for him. He also didn’t have anything like the handles Traudt has. Was a pure stretch big who needed to be set up by others.

I kinda fear for Igor’s playing time. The guy is awesome and I love him and he’s got a ton of potential, but Traudt kinda feels like he’s Igor 2.0. If they can somehow get both of them on the court at the same it would be a matchup nightmare.

Oh, I agree. Tony might feel fine about a defensive project given the tradeoffs.

Yeah, this is fair. Traudt isn’t gonna be big/strong/athletic for an ACC 4/5 but unlike Jay, he will be credible from the start.

Oh yeah the hype to watch the first minutes of the 2022 class will be off the charts, especially after this season.

That’s why the blue-white scrimmage will be played in an undisclosed underground bunker with play-by-play only being reported out by morse code.

Georgetown beats Syracuse. Future Wahoo Aminu Mohammed with 21 pts. 12 rebounds, 5 assists.

Man Armaan Franklin’s slump along with all these rookie guards we were recruiting (heck even Deebo coleman is showing flashes in limited minutes) makes this season and 2021 recruiting even more frustrating.

We could have had a Deebo Taine Igor Daron class. Or maybe we can work with Aminu’s handler like we did with Mamadi’s and he is a stud for us.

Just like coming into this season, going into next season no one outside Jayden should be safe from being over-recruited/talent upgraded either with the incoming 2022s or the transfer portal. This team needs a violent talent infusion, I don’t think the 2022 class is enough because even though I am high on them, will they be able to make a big enough of an immediate impact to elevate this middle of the pack NIT team (currently)?

Google Search;

Just watched the end of that. That kid won’t transfer, he’ll be in the league next. Really like his game though, like so many guys has a lot of offensive tools we’re missing

The 2021 recruiting class is still strange to me. Never really felt like we were deep in it with any of our targets, bar maybe Keels. But even then, as soon as Duke offered, felt like we were cooked. Still a little confused as to the approach to that class, but I guess Jabri, McKoy, and Morsell still being on the roster made it harder? I don’t know.

Im hoping Georgetown does bad enough that scouts have questions on whether he is putting up numbers out of necessity (of course scouts are much more thorough and see he has the physical tools) maybe he gets an early 2nd round grade and thinks he can go first and Tony can offer the opportunity to develop into a more rounded player (his handler seems to be appreciative of that aspect).

Roadblocks that ultimately were not roadblocks. So frustrating. Regardless we need a heavy talent infusion on top of the 2022 class to help Gardner next season. Whether it be Taine and Igor being able to take that next step or some more athletic/better 3pt shooting transfers idk.

Cause right now we are barely competing with mid majors/need Jayden to keep us in those games.

This going to sound bad, but I’ve kind of already punted on next season. I think we’ll be better (and probably tournament caliber), but I mostly want the 2022 class guys to get developmental minutes. If bringing in a number of talented transfers screws that up and makes some of them leave or screws with recruiting for the 2023 class, I won’t love it. I’m mainly targeting the two seasons after next season as our next high-performing window.

And I know the counter to that is “Bring in the talent and whoever is best will float to the top and that will be the best outcome,” but I view the 2022 and hopefully 2023 class as the foundation for what comes next. I just don’t see us doing a whole lot if critical positions are filled by transfers who will only play one or two years here. If you get me a guy that will stay for three years and be a foundational piece, like Gill, then I’m more for it, but I really do think that with the way our team works, our high school recruits need to be the backbone. Maybe it’s an outdated model and the college basketball world will pass us by, but it’s just hard for me to see us succeeding while being over-reliant on transfers.

All that said, I agree with you on the need for the talent infusion. I’d just rather infuse the team via 2022 and 2023 high school recruiting than via the transfer market.

And that’s the whole point of playing our current Freshmen and Sophomores the most. What are we doing having Clark lead us in minutes and Franklin at 30 minutes a game???
What’s the upside? As opposed to continue as is and watch Beekman transfer and Tony asks Clark to stay for a 5th year??? :joy::joy::joy::joy::grinning_face::grinning_face::joy:

I don’t think sticking with our current starting line up will make much noise this year. I absolutely wish we would just play for next year.

Reece Taine Igor Jayden Kadin. Kihei off the bench for all the minutes. No one else plays. Armaan can play once he hits 40 3s in a row in practice. Lets Reece be the only pg to run the thing and go on the runs he usually goes on when he’s the only pg, but also lets us bring in our 2nd best scorer in Kihei off the bench so we don’t have a drop off.

I tried to be optimisitc about Kody and Papi. But I am at the point where Id rather have Kihei sub in at the 5 and create out the post facing up like he did last year. Kody still pump fakes/hesitates on wide open shots and gets burned consistently on defense. We know what we have in Kody, Igor has untapped potential as long as Igor is on our roster Kody should not see the floor. Papi you can save to rough up Armando Bacot when we play UNC.

Not giving up on Carson but at the same time Poindexter has actually looked better on the floor. I was absolutely wrong in being frustrated about Tony playing Poindexter over Carson (not over Taine though).
