I know context matters, but just seems odd to me that Sochan and Igor played on the same team last with a very similar role and Igor slightly outplayed him, and this year Igor is playing for a team that looks like it won’t make the tourney and averaging much less than 10 minutes per game and Sochan is playing for the defending natty winner that is top 5 and averaging about 20 minutes per.
I get that Sochan is a better athlete … but I don’t know … it’s just odd, right?

I watched a bunch of their games cause they’re uploaded on YouTube. Igor was better. Sochan had nice moments too and he was great in FIBA games, but I think he was clearly less trusted by the club staff.
If we somehow manage to screw up Igor’s confidence too, I’ll be profoundly bummed.

Well Sochan fits into what Baylor does.. athletic defender who attacks the glass. Igor isn’t that great defensively but a better shooter.
It’s easy to see why Igor would look better over there in Europe which emphasizes offense

Sure, give Baylor credit. They are currently doing a great job of having an identity and getting guys that fit that identity.
We did a great job of both for a great run, but we’ve hit a bit of a snag post-natty (at least IMO). I think that’s the meta question of this past summer recruiting and this year and then next year: What is our identity and how do the guys we have and have coming in fit that identity?
(Perhaps mine is a minority opinion – that the “identity” of this and next year’s team is not really that clear [edit] … I guess I should add a very pregnant “yet” to this)

Watched NC State and Casey. On offense he sits in the left corner and just watches (today). He would have had a nice role with us this year

My naming rights thoughts: if you’re gonna sell the rights, (a) make sure the person doesn’t name it after themselves (tacky, right?), (b) doesn’t name it after a .com (perhaps this is late 90s guidance), (c) only name it after a corporation if it has some connection to Virginia or UVa (a la the RAC becoming “Jersey Mike’s”); and/or (d) name it after another person (i.e., not the donor), who has a name with 3 words, for better initials, and could plausibly be a Led Zeppelin bassist, or a famous navy general.
