hokies…
That’s literally a Quad 1 win (top 75 in away games). I’ll probably have Clemson 3rd behind UNC and UVA right now. Miami doesn’t have a really good win yet, neutral vs K State is solid but doesn’t move the needle. Still I think they’re very good. And it’s hard to have Duke above any of those teams right now. In reality, the top 5 are all pretty even imo. Some are more consistent (Clemson), others have more game to game variation but obvious upside (Miami, Duke).
Relatively complimentary.
Oh, wait, did I use the wrong one? I forget which is which.
I’m aware. But qualitatively that might as well have been a neutral court. Quantitatively, Pitt just sucks by every metric, and I suspect it won’t be a Quad 1 win for long. Pitt will fall below where they were at the start of play today, and they will gradually sink from there. Honestly, Pitt really is just that bad. I only point that out because I am sick of hearing that Clemson is undefeated without the qualification that they have literally played one quality team…and that was a solid win, for sure.
I think they are good and will be formidable in conference play but have been tested very little thus far.
I definitely don’t think Clemson is the best team in the ACC, but if @Raleigh_Hoo’s goal is to rank resumes thus far, yeah, Clemson has a case for #1 (again, only “thus far”) that needs to be considered. So do UVA and UNC. Depends on what you put weight on. Clemson’s win at Alabama might be the best win of the three (arguably could be UNC over Tennessee), but UVA and UNC both have two really good wins and Clemson has only the one, but then again UVA and UNC also both have losses, but those losses were to pretty good teams…
Man my mental health would be in a really dark place right now if we had gotten Robbie Beran instead of Jacob Groves.
Also man Louisville is bad… but Ty Laur Johnson woulda been incredible under Tony. He’s really good and his playstyle is so perfect for what tony wants. Alas red flags, academic issues, and whatnot
I am just trying to understand. Clemson went into its game with Pitt today having played one high-major team – and they got a good win, but no way better than Tennessee – so the fact that we lost to Wisconsin, while they were playing some mid major team means they are the #1 team in the ACC? Simply because they beat ___ mid-major team, and we lost to a very good Wisconsin team their undefeated record is by itself the relevant metric?
I don’t intend to sound angry, just incredulous.
So it looks like Clemson is good this year
@ any UVA fan wanting, needing or believing any duke fans validation.
Their compliments are about as genuine as this guys were.
Louisville and Vt in a dog fight in Cassell. Not a good look for Mike Young in year 5
Thanks @Hooandtrue. I had forgotten this game was even on. I think I saw Louisville and forgot. But I think it is clearly the case that this team has some fight in them that last year’s team did not. They are challenging teams – inconsistently; just ask Texas!
I’ve been watching this VT Louisville game… i don’t think either team looks especially good.
Tech isn’t good. Haven’t watched much Louisville but they look heifer skelter as I expected
I hope Lousiville pulls this one out though.
They have a chance of they stop doing dumb stuff.
The ACC is so top heavy. Five will fight it out at the top, and there is everyone else, though I believe some of them are improved from last season.
They’ll probably shoot well against us just because but we should absolutely clamp them. Shots won’t come easy at all. Reece on Pedulla, Rohde on Cattoor, double Kidd. Where’s the offense going to come from?
Robbie Beran tearing it up again - 1-7, 1 rebound, 1 block, 2 points. Legendary.
It is their team makeup… they can beat everyone because almost everyone on the perimeter can get hot from 3… and they can win some crazy games because everyone gets hot… which is what normally happens in Cassel against UVA.
As has been noted, what a skill differential between Groves and Beran. I am so, so relieved we got Groves. He has been a critical part of our offense, while Beran does…nothing so far as I can tell.
But it really isn’t a Groves vs. Beran argument, right? I mean it should be Beran over RD!
