80 total free throws in the game - UL shot 45. And Ty-Laur must have picked the right pair of tights as he played well.
I stumbled into watching the last 10 minutes of that game. Ugliest game I’ve seen this year. The last ten minutes of game time took almost an hour to play out.
Sounds like our second half against Louisville the other week.
They are very tall. Really sloppy last night though.
In a full week of ACC play home teams just went 12-2… major W we picked up yesterday.
Who else got a road win?
Duke at VT.
Lol.
“I think at the end of the day, the ACC runs through me,” Bacot said after the game. “All of the top bigs I played against – going into every matchup, I feel like I’m going to win. … On these matchups, I take 'em a little bit more personal and I knew I would dominate.”
Not sure how he would then explain his performances against BC, FSU, and GT.
Dude has zero ACC regular season titles and zero ACC tournament titles. Only thing running into him is RJ Davis’ man on a moving screen.
Through you? 9 more games and the ACC is finally done with you asshole.
I mean Bacot has been in the ACC since it was a 9 team league. He deserves something for being the Kirkland brand Sean May.
Saw this on the Duke board (they are super depressed/want to hit the portal hard and go for grown men over 5 stars whose egos dont match their potential production)
“Don’t see anyone outside of Flagg and Maluch (if he commits) being an impact player next year. Duke is losing Flip, Roach, Young, Proctor, and a few transfers at a minimum. The unknowns are McCain and MItchell. They will have no choice but to be successful in the portal.”
… meanwhile Kon would start for us at the 3 and play 35+ minutes a game. Unreal messaging failure on our end if we aren’t trying to flip Kon
edit: also LOLed at this one. Just a different world of thinking over there
"Fair, but I think all freshman outside Flagg are in the Power/Stewart category—ie they’re not 5 star starters. Any big time transfer should and will be ahead of them until proven otherwise in my view.
Foster/Mcain can both co-exits with another top portal guard, just like they’re co-existing with Proctor and Roach, who more than likely both will not be in Durham.
Give me: Portal Guard, McCain, Portal wing, Flagg, Malauch, Foster as your top 6. Then let the rest fall where it will."
I think Duke will have some addition by subtraction without Roach. Foster is already better than him and should be playing his minutes. Roach has just been such a miss for them hogging huge starter minutes for years.
Foster, McCain and Kon + transfer bigs would actually be a very good lineup but we’ll see
I thought he was pretty vital to their final 4 run with Mark Williams and Banchero.
But yeah outside that season, he has been not what you would want out of him. Kon isn’t in any of their projections for starting lineups. And they really need a wing defender with Foster/McCain.
I did see this thought which is what crossed my mind in the UVA vs Memphis game. (their board hot topic right now is UNC using the portal and being an older team/veteran presence).
“I was thinking tonight about the difference between a 25 year old and a 19 year old, right after that play where Ryan blocked McCain. I have a daughter who will turn 18 soon and I still think of her as a child. Meanwhile I work with several 25 year olds who I consider to be peers. The notion of two of them competing against each other in anything - physical, mental, strategic, etc. - would be absurd to me.”
Yep - need the covid super-seniors to be gone.
Getting rid of the super seniors will be big. But if teams play the portal right they can still boast senior/older rosters agaisnt some much younger teams. Take out the exceptional 5 star freshman and the difference between a seasoned 3rd or 4th yr vs a true fresh is huge.
