Super random thought but we literally lost 4 ACC games total in two seasons (2017-2018 / 2018-2019). That includes ACC tournament. And the league was way better at the time.
Just an insane two year run looking back on it
Let’s actually look back:
2017-2018 had 5 ranked teams at year end
2018-2019 had 5 ranked teams at year end
Carolina is the only team in the current ACC that could compete with the top 5 from those years and they’re not better than Duke, UVA, and even Carolina was back then.
my first consulting project after UVA was in Durham. Nana’s was the first time I ever had rabbit. I remember going to Rue Cler as well.
We also spent some time going to Devine’s and James Joyce to commingle with the Duke students. Durham has definitely grown since then but I think it’s got better food than cville from what I recall and looking over the list you sent.
Ha, my law school section did trivia every week last year. One week we went to James Joyce. Funny bar
I still think I prefer CVille’s food scene because of how close together everything is. Durham sprawls quite a bit and even getting downtown can be annoying due to lack of convenient busses etc
This is probably premature, but I honestly can’t see NC State as a “worthy Tourney team.” I know we played like dog shit in our game there, but they are not a tournament team, imo.
Of course I say that and they lay an egg. But they’ll be on the bubble, no bad losses, they beat wake and they still have games against UNC and Duke both to play first week of March.
Maybe so but the opportunity is still in front of them. 0 Q3/Q4 losses paired with a couple Q1 wins is usually a tournament entry recipe for success especially for P6 teams. It’s up to them to try and earn those big wins.
I was curious about NCSU’s lineup tweak to bring Burns off the bench, and it turns out they’ve been a lot better with him on the bench this season, with Middlebrooks typically in his place. This is somewhat driven by hot opponent 3P shooting in the DJB minutes (and cold opponent shooting in his bench minutes), which might not be completely about him, but the gap is big (13 pts per 100 possessions better with him on the bench).
Jeff Goodman has reliably told me the ACC is a “mid-major conference” and will only get 2 bids.
If the ACC is a mid-major conference what are the Big Ten and Pac12? But the Big Ten will get 10 bids all of which will flame out in the first weekend.
Incidentally, I think using "mid-major " as a pejorative really disrespects the guys who play on those teams, and the accomplishments of their teams. I am old enough to remember that two of the teams in the Final Four last season played in mid-major conferences.
