ACC Basketball January

After Smith was taken off in a stretcher during the game. Not the best look for Bacot. He doesn’t have many good ones.

I hate that asshole.

I get the rivalry although UNC views it as much less of a rivalry than NC State does, which makes this even more questionable… IMO, Bacot shouldn’t have done this. Not a good look at all especially with the injury, which Leaky got called for a Flagrant 2 and kicked out of the game. Especially if Bacot had any aspiration of going to the League, which I doubt will happen anyway.

When a guy leaves the game on a stretcher, if you have any humanity at all it won’t even occur to you to showboat after the game, or make a joke or take a dig at the other team, or whatever this is supposed to be. You shouldn’t need to be instructed in that, or have to restrain yourself out of self-interest because you recognize it’s a “bad look”. You just wouldn’t do it.

We’ll get there on our own merit. The day we need hokie help is the day we don’t deserve first place.

I don’t think Leaky should’ve received a flagrant 2 for that foul. He was going for the ball. If he didn’t get hurt I don’t think the flagrant 2 is called

Rulebook (at least from last year) explicitly factors in injury potential as a criteria for a Flagrant 2 and does say that legitimate plays for the ball can still be Flagrant 2 if they are dangerous enough (p. 47): https://www.quickscores.com/downloads/ftmeadesports_20212022_NCAA_Mens_Basketball_Rulebook.pdf

I agree he wasn’t trying to hurt him, but clocking someone in the head is a flagrant 2.

Good news for Louisville fans: the team has moved up three spots in the NET this week, leapfrogging Loyola Maryland, Eastern Michigan, and Lindenwood (?) to seize 334th place. Too bad they don’t have a game scheduled against Lindenwood so they can settle this on the court.

Seriously how is it even possible for a power conference team to get this bad?

What is Georgetown? Feel like it has to be similar

Georgetown is 248 in the NET. The second-lowest power conference team is, surprisingly, South Carolina, at 282. They beat Georgetown, and have wins over Clemson and Kentucky.

It’s great coaching. He’s tearing them down before he builds them up again. Remember, he’s from the Calipari coaching tree where it is all about player development. They specialize in taking unknown and overlooked talent and developing them into champions in four years.

Or am I being facetious here?

i tell ya, Wake would be pretty sad if not for the portal the last 2 years. L’ville just whiffed completely it seems.

It makes sense for “new” coaches in ACC type programs to really focus on transfer portal these past couple years while becoming established in the league. I guess TB did the same to an extent.

Did Payne try to get portal guys and strike out, or not really try that hard? Kinda feels like the latter, which was extremely puzzling.

I will say that Forbes has done a great job in the portal getting players that fit what he’s doing… Several players he got from the portal weren’t high profile transfers but they worked out well there

I was jealous of Laravia’s impact last year … I am like why can’t went find this guy? BVP works.
