How dare they deny VT getting the benefit of an awful call on the field.
If itâs called an incomplete pass initially like it shouldâve been there would be nobody complaining right now.

I donât think there was enough there to overturnâŚâŚand I loved every second of it!
Itâs amusing how VT fans are crying all over Twitter because they werenât gifted a Hail Mary catch. Iâd be upset too but at the end of the day it should never have been ruled a catch.
The lede getting buried here is that Pry lost them that game and is now 1-11 in one score games. Incredible incompetence, because that team is actually very talented. Theyâll salvage a respectable 8-4 / 7-5 record in my opinion but with all they had returning, and their schedule, thatâs not good enough.
Could see Drones bolt in the offseason too with all they have graduating. They lose most of their 2 deep and heâll be getting big offers. This was pryâs year to do something and heâs squandering it
The idea of âenough to overturnâ as being the decision criteria has always seemed a little odd to me. Why should the call on the field get priority? Shouldnât the criteria be âwhich call is more right?â and it not matter which call got made first?
Agree. Some on here think it was clearly not a catch. I sure couldnât tell and I donât know how anyone really could be sure. But, if the requirement to overturn is âindisputable evidenceâ, then by definition if you canât decide after 10 minutes and probably 20 views from every camera, then it wasnât indisputable.
Donât blame the Hokies for their reaction. But, I will say it was a great games with some great plays and story lines.
Echoing many hereâ Donât know how it was called a catch on the field, donât know how it was overturned after it was. Go canes tho.
I do wonder if this changes the vibes from their fan base around Pry a little bit. Assuming a lot of them feel like they were screwed, maybe it turns it into a them vs. the ACC vibe instead of a them vs. Pry one.
That being said however, Pry coached a poor game and blew several chances to clinch a winnable game against a top 10 opponent, and theyâre probably mad about that too.
Canât wait for Drones and Tuten to run for 400 on us though .
Spent some time on their board this morning for shits and giggles and the answer is ânoâ. They are pissed at Pry and most want him fired / are declaring heâs ânot the guyâ
That might be the most rationale Iâve seen from a VT board.
It makes sense though. The National Title talk was a bit overblown but this yearâs VT is too talented to play as mediocre as they are. Last night was a chance to save the season and Pry let his team down.
I donât know which outcome Iâm rooting for: them keeping him or them firing him. Leaning keeping him because new coaches bring hope, and I donât want that for them.
Plus we have a fun thing going on where we both get new coaches at the same time and weâre not ready to do that yet!
The fake FG was some Mike London shit.
Pry is lucky the hail Mary call is overshadowing the fake FG decision.
And the horrible end of game clock management. Kept one timeout in his pocket for no reason.
I thought they used the last one between their last two plays?
Regardless â they wasted 35-40 seconds not calling a timeout earlier and on slow restarts.
Pry is a redneck version of London.
They did but it was virtually useless since the clock was stopped anyway on the Drones scramble before the Hail Mary. Like you said I have no idea why Pry kept it in his pocket when the clock was running after Felton was ruled to be in bounds on his short catch near the sidelines.
Iâm fine with the policy of defaulting to the ruling on the field. But what if the ruling on the field was the result of the referees huddling up and saying, âI have no earthly idea, do you? We gotta look at that on video. But we gotta call something first. Just pick a call and then weâll fix it in review.â Which⌠sort of seemed to be what happened there? And as a result of that, the âruling on the fieldâ may have carried less weight than it would otherwise have.
Should it work that way? Idk. But I kinda get it in a crazy situation like that.
My thinking is that replay reviews are different since SCOTUS overturned the Chevron doctrine.
I think it took a couple different angles to reach the decision. I am 95% sure the ball was still moving. But I agree with you if it really is about the initial call it was a tough one to overturn. Not getting behind a conspiracy but the ACC was better off with Miami winning. Just saying.
BC without Castellanos at QB is down 14-0 to Western Kentucky.
