Makes sense. This season and last season couldn’t have been fun. Their associate HC has a long history with Larranaga and has been a HC before at Cornell, so he’s a safe pair of hands to trust with the rest of the season.

Honestly surprised Larrañga didn’t try to step down when everyone was distracted by Tony’s retirement.

Being 4-8 with the amount of talent he has on his roster means something else is going wrong underneath the hood. Not surprised Larranaga just decided to cut his losses and call it quits.

Possibly but I don’t think you have to look hard to figure it out or conjure a conspiracy. He was close to retirement before they went on a final 4 run. Their NIL is a mess with the Ruiz fallout. Miami has and will be a football first program. All of Larrsnagas contempories are gone and he’s old.

Plus its a nice finger to Tony. " “I’ll show you how to quit in style”

You couldn’t make a better pairing

5 years ago I think we all knew this wave of coaching retirements were coming. I had hoped Tony would stick around another 15-20 years but oh well.

Hamilton the only one left. Is there any wonder why the ACC is down these days?

Is Larranaga’s son still an assistant on the Wizards? Maybe he will be in the area; would be cool to have him pop by for a practice or two over the summer to brag to the youngins about his two final 4 teams at Miami/George Mason and how he also got to coach Ralph Sampson

Wouldn’t be surprised if this is Hamilton’s last season too. His contract runs out after the season and has not been extended that I can find.

Longest tenured coaches in the ACC. Leonard Hamilton, Brad Brownell, Kevin Keets and Jeff Capel.

A legend and some dudes.

If this is Hamiltons last year I imagine FSU goes off the deep end. They’re already hurting for cash and had Norvell sacrafice a big chunk of salary. Doubt they are eager to fund their No. 5 sport

Some interesting quotes from L in his press conference, though I kinda laughed at this one:

Perhaps him and Mr. LifeWallet weren’t working exactly closely together.

And then this seems to be the running theme of long-tenured coaches stepping down:

Chance broke him. Long story short

Is Chance a coach killer? 2 greats in 4 months?
