Someone with far more knowledge than me can correct me, but I don’t think it was an all that impressive coaching job from Scheyer. Their length was just disruptive on the defensive end and we couldn’t hit our open shots. Our offense was also just so one dimensional without BVP to give lineup flexibility and bring Duke’s bigs out to the perimeter and open up the lane for guards to drive, Jayden to shoot, and bigs to work.

At the end of the day 5 missed ft’s, a missed dunk, a couple of missed bunnies, several no calls that didn’t go our way, like when lively was all over Dunn on a rebound, we convert those it’s a different bal game

For someone who had gotten down on BVP the last part of the season it didn’t take me long tonight to see how much we needed him and how important he really was to us. I still think we can have a good run in the tourney if we can hit a few more 3s.

I don’t want anything to do with Pitino with the streak they’re on despite Tony’s success against his Louisville teams. Give me Yale/Princeton or Louisiana-Lafayette.

Bottom line .. every wing player or guard we recruit going forward should have excellent 3 point shooting skills. Imac × 3 (3 Imacs on the floor). Shooters all over the floor. Ryan Dunn get to work.

Bills was right, but only if we are accounting for the good version of BVP. Once his back started bothering him again his 12 shots a game were more like turnovers. Teams had lost some respect for his 3 point shot in late February, and our two last wins in the regular season he played within himself a lot more (5 or 6 shots).

Thought we played GREAT defense last night against a team with legitimate Final Four potential. The big thing with our offense was that we got so few easy shots (and didn’t make a lot of those). Gardner has always been a guy we could go to, but last night he had a 7 footer in his face the entire game. Now, he could have made a few more of those, but it is a different game when you have to adjust your arc or move out 2 or 3 steps from where you normally shoot.
Looking forward to the next challenge.

Isaac and Isaac and Blake and Elijah all say hello … we will finally have guards again that can get their own shots with no help.
One of the more significant takeaways for me last night was that that court was no place for the feint of heart. It’s rare that you see two teams playing such physical defense.

With 44 seconds left, it was 53-49. We STILL had a chance to win it, despite a legendarily awful offensive performance. Yesterday’s offense was rated about the same as that god awful BC loss. About the worst this season.

The defense we played last night would crush a lot of teams. Especially when they don’t have talent like duke has.

Also i noticed them go up for the lob to the big a few times last night which turned into TOs because of Duke’s size. Crisp that up this week and there is an easy 4-6 points against other teams

Also worth noting that BVP broke his hand on Wednesday. Didn’t give us a whole lot of time to prepare or practice adjustments.
We’re a good team that has obvious weaknesses – which you can say about almost every team out there. What I love is that we seem to have regained our intensity (on both ends) since the Carolina loss. I’m much more optimistic coming out of the ACC Tournament than I was going in, even with the injury.
