It’s Cofie in the video not Wilkins

That was Cofie, not Wilkins, but we are really cleaning up on all the Jacobs out there. Who’s the best Jacob ever to play college hoops? Voskuhl?

Thanks for the correction lol don’t have instagram so don’t watch most of those videos

Cofie will be an insane small ball Center wherever he goes

Ugh - made me look.
Maybe Jacob Pullen at Kansas State? - 2 time 1st team all Big 12. Preseason All American in 2011. Wooden Award Finalist (Top 10)
Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award Winner (top 6-0 and under player in the country)

Jacob Gilyard from Richmond is the all time steals leader

Perhaps, but it would no doubt feel caged being forced to focus on defense and giving up so much of its offensive potential. It’d want to transfer to a 7-11 or sheetz in no time. I think we’re focusing on the right player.

Nah - doesn’t count … he played 5 years. Or even his truncated year was 23 games. He had 82 steals that year which if you take away, places him 2nd all time by 1 steal … okay still very good. lol

Agreed. Also underrated as impediments in rodeo events.

The Saints could really use a big man this year.

Hey, I think that barrel is doing a hell of a job on D given how undersized it is. And its wingspan… yikes. “T-rex” arms is an understatement.

If anything the dang thing is continuous in its own way

Jacob Marley would have been fantastic, the way he stole everyone’s dimes and all.

And then he comes back to haunt you afterwards! I love it!

PS: my all time favorite Christmas story. I’d love to see a modern, well done, version of it. Steve Spielberg? Are you listening?

It depends on your definition of well done, but…

FX did one a few years ago but it was darn near a horror story. That was just a bit too intense for a Christmas story.

Ticks the modern box. Well done, not so much.

This was a decent game to get an idea of what Kofie can / can’t do. His team was playing at Garfield, featuring Jaylin Stewart, SF headed to UConn (#67 in 247 composite) and Emmett Marquadt, unranked nationally, but headed to Eastern Washington (where the Groves bros. played). Stewart and Marquadt are both '23 guys. Cofie and Marquadt mostly covered each other. Stewart and Cofie mixed it up a bit, too.

Garfield is coached by Brandon Roy.

Stewart is #2 in black
Marquadt is #22 in black
Kofie is #24 in white

Youtube – skip past the senior night stuff to about 2:10

Condensed Hudl version, from Cofie’s team’s perspective:

Cofie shows off some offensive skill. He can dribble a little bit and can shoot it, too - impressive three to draw within one with under a minute left, on the road. Nothing too exciting on defense, and Stewart gets him a few times.

I like Cofie a lot though do think he’s not necessarily a Day-1 guy for us. There’s a reason he’s “only” borderline Top 100 in his class, not the bounciest or quickest guy at that size. Meaning not sure I think he solves any immediate 2024-25 season depth problems, where at best he’s backing up the 4/5 spot for 8-10 minutes a night while Dunn eats up minutes at the 4 and otherwise we go small. Not to say I think Hodge is any more ready, I worry about Hodge’s defense and rebounding as a freshman just as much. Punch, though undersized, may be the most suited for instant impact at the 4 given his athleticism translating to defense.

Whichever way we go at the 4, all in all wouldn’t surprise me to see us bring in a grad transfer 4/5 to buy the '24 commit and A-Rob one additional year to work in slowly, even if hopefully Blake is ready for 20+ mpg as a sophomore.
