Bond, depending what we see from him this year, positionally
'24 commit (probably Cofie, Hodge, or Punch)
So much depends on what we see this coming year (really what the staff sees, but y’know what I mean), but if Dunn stays, I’d be tempted to stay put. Of course, I said that about the Groves/Beran decision, too.
Edit - eh, it’s 50-50. Really depends on Blake and A-Rob progression, I guess. And who you can bring in.
We have to remember how infrequently we see centers contribute meaningfully for Tony before their 3rd year. I do think Blake is going to be the exception in a way we haven’t seen since Mike Tobey a decade ago, but he’s not doing it alone. Is A-Rob going to be 15-20mpg ready as a RS Frosh? Maybe but hard to bet on.
Going into the offseason I wanted one of the big man transfers to have two years remaining, instead of the two rent-a-grads we got, just to provide that little extra bit of continuity and veteran presence in the front court for next year. Didn’t work out, and of course Traudt and Igor being busts complicated the succession planning further. Is what it is. But as such I think next fall we see a transfer in the front court, which otherwise should be the only transfer we NEED unless we see some surprise transfer or NBA departures otherwise.
I do think the best case scenario is how RS Frosh Kadin Shedrick looked before getting mono in the Covid year. I think that’s the best case scenario for A-Rob. Without getting a million illnesses and injuries we could’ve seen Shedrick also be an exception to this rule, though I REALLY don’t want to reopen a conversation about him lol.
I bring up Tobey because he’s the last HS center we took that didn’t redshirt. Every 5-man we’ve recruited since then: Jack, Mamadi, Jay, Papi, and Kadin (even Igor who you could convince me is a 4/5 in the ACC), have shirted. Blake will break that streak, then A-Rob will simultaneously start it again.
