⛹ Andrew Rohde - Official Thread

I dont think they will change change anyones shot. With Isaac my guess is they told him he would need to shoot it faster in college seens guys are bigger and of course… faster.

Looking at Rohde shoot he is just so flat and kinda winds up. Others have said like he is thinkinv and not just shooting. Is why early in the season I said i liked his one dribble pull up shots in rythm

Rohde with a big 3 in crunch time tonight and the perfect defense to close it out.

His shot looks better lately but he needs a tweak because I’ve never seen someone rim out more than him. This offseason will be critical for him

100% but I’ll give credit where credit is due he had a big shot and at times looked more aggressive last night. Would like to see more of that on a consistent basis. That said, he showed up when the Hoos needed him so that’s something, at least his shots are hitting rim and lipping out that’s more than we can say about some guys on the team.

Yeah I’ll give him this, he does a good bit of running around screens and moving… I get annoyed with the retreat dribbling just like everyone else but sometimes we also are like “why is that the shot?” And not “why is he the only one flying off screens to get looks?”

AR had his breakout game finally that @chavlicek15 has been calling for

I think Rhode would be better as the initiator of the offense and not coming off screens. Just not fast and quick enough. Hes a good facilitator.

I liked Rohde in that low post extended area looking for cutters. Hit Groves on a back cut for an easy bucket. But I think he only got the ball there once or twice.

I think Groves starting in his place allows Groves to be aggressive right out of the gate as long as he isn’t hesitating, and then Rohde coming off of the bench allows him to take in the game, and perhaps be more aggressive in his *smaller time on the court. With Dante driving and getting him open for some pump fake/ shots I think that serves his offense alot better.

I think Harris breaking down the offense for him to be able to either shoot, pump fake shoot, or pump fake and dribble really can open up his offense a bit. It’s not blocker/mover but maybe more of a traditional way that Rohde can get some open looks.

Rohde shot 81.5% at the line last year (97-119) compared to 42.9% this year. Tiny sample size this year probably because he isn’t playing Summit players but that’s the yips if I’ve ever seen it. FTs best indicator of a shooter imo. He’s rattled, hope he regains confidence in the offseason

How many FT attempts this year, like 15? That is telling somehow

He did hit those two at FSU late that were super clean and looked confident. Don’t think he’s been back to the line since that game. But last night he looked to dribble toward the rim/action more and overall was just more effective.

4 FT attempts in the last 10 games, 2 against FSU and none since.

I noticed early this season. Rohde is much better shooter off the dribble. I like his one dribble pull up in rythm a lot. Not so much his catch and shoot

He had another jumper that went halfway down and then out. That’s happened so much this year with him

What does half way down mean? Hahaha

(Kidding I know what you mean, sorta)

Maybe halfway down is not the right way to describe it. Swirls around the rim and then out is probably more apt. I don’t know much about shooting mechanics though but I don’t feel like he misses badly as you’d expect someone in the 20’s % wise from 3 would be

Yes, agree. A number of shots that were just a cm off. I guess I noticed them so much because I have been so hoping to see the Rohde I was expecting at the start of the season.

Have you also notice that he leads the team in made shots that have been waived off by the officials for one reason or another? I know of 2 and think there may have been a third.

Atleast he’s avg 1 3pt a game lately. Last night was an improvement.

Basically this. And how often do you get those in the sets tony runs? DHO sets are perfect for Rohde cause they allow him to create off the dribble while also giving him a screener to work with since iso is also a weakness of his.

(DHO is my new to go phrase if you havent already noticed)
