Discussed some in the VIP forum. Going to be a preferred walk-on. Still holding that 13th scholarship open for a transfer or change of mind. (I’m sure he will get his tuition covered and then some with some NIL though)
Now that is a Tipton Edit.
Ladies and gentlemen, one more time…
For the people who have been clamoring for us to add some in-state guys, we got one! Hometown boy from Cville.
Look we may not get McD All American preferred walkons, but a former 3 star recruit to a P5 school ain’t too shabby. And I feel like we needed another true center on the roster for practice and scouting purposes
It’s really the Tristan How replacement…
This is from the beginning of this past season, but here are some highlights from Carter Lang’s offseason work with Damin Altizer. Also features cameos from Papi and some guy whose name I’ve forgotten.
Not your average walk-on.
And this is my favorite thread this side of All things Tugard
Two questions:
-
does having Carter Lang come back to C’ville have any impact on recruiting Chance Mallory given the STAB connection?
-
If we moved all of the football scholarship money to the collective and paid tuition for football out of NIL, could we get out of all of the Title IX women’s scholarship issues that are caused by football?
compared to BB:
Lang was a TO machine, but he rebounded well. I assume he will be just practice depth.
On another note, I was looking back at BB’s season stats, and they didn’t turn out as well as the picture of him I had in mind. Poor rebounding for his size, and 41.4% on 2s (all he shot) for a 41.4% eFG%, which is horrible. Hopefully he makes a jump next year with the added size and experience. I think he will.
I know @ElliottHoo is excited about this one and could tell you more about Lang than me. Carter’s sister is committed to UVA to play volleyball. He has several really close friends who attend. I don’t know what his deal will be NIL wise, hopefully it’ll offset the tuition costs. But I just think for him staying home and being a green teamer and maybe fighting for a chance for more worked.
I also assume if there’s a scholarship left, it’ll be his year by year.
Um you mean The A Team bro
An underrated and often overlooked part of a program’s success is having a good scout team. At a base level Lang will allow us to simulate what it’s like playing against a finesse 5 with legitimate skill and passing ability in the paint along with a little bit of perimeter shooting. At best he’s an end of the bench guy who gives us even further depth in the frontcourt next season and maybe develops into a regular rotation player in time.
Really no negatives to take from this addition, really nice for the staff to be able to work this out.
Love it. Especially love all the size we’ve added across the board
Looking forward to Mike Curtis working with these guys and getting back to at least some form of Grown Ass Man basketball, where we played with swag because we knew we were the physically dominant team.
Where was trilly on this one?
Drink!
Heh, my daughter beat you to telling me by about 10 minutes.
I’m starting a petition to have our logo officially changed to a flaming v sabres. It’s still classy, but on fire.
