Nope. I started it 12 years ago.
So, as it happens, my first name is Silas which has historically been really uncommon, and I’ve been watching this.
My anecdotal evidence matches this, it felt like we started seeing a resurgence 12-14 years ago. We moved to C’ville 13 years ago, today, and shortly after moving a buddy introduced me to a friend of his (who became a good friend) and the guy had just named his new son Silas.
My wife has a pretty normal, consistently fairly popular (was top 20-ish from like 1980 to 2010) first name, and both our daughters (Rose and Margaret) are named after grandmothers/great aunts so their names were super popular from like the 1920s through about the 1950s but have mostly waned since then.
But from '94 to 2013 (its kept going up since 2013, but the trajectory has flattened out dramatically), Silas just steadily climbed in popularity. Starting in 2015, Silas moved into the #1 spot (among first names in my immediate family) for babies born in each year, and has just increased its lead ever since. Rose did have a moment in 2020 and briefly challenged, but it proved short-lived and Rose has been fading the last couple years.
Kind of looks like he’s walking into a haunted cemetery to me.
One of our son’s longtime best friend’s is a Silas - they’re both 31, both born in 1992. I’d never heard that as a contemporary moniker until then.

I think they’d be the early favorite for Jacob yeah. Just hard to tell how big things get with him.
