Canât forget Howard and Hardaway!
Schertz should be the hire if he wants it. (Should be a big if imoâŚ)
Murray by far the most interesting/highest ceiling, but I am starting to get suspicious why he hasnât taken a job yet.
Hodgson would probably do pretty well, but I could see him getting better offers or sticking around at USF another year waiting for them.
Cuse also doesnât really have an AD at the moment from my understanding?
That is a murderers row of failed coaches. Also maybe the best core to build an all time college players turned coaches team, who could beat any team if they played in their prime.
Cuse, BC, Pitt⌠the old Big East powers all turning over coaches at the same time. The move to the ACC destroyed them all.
Mark Price could play PG!
Great call.
Iâm throwing Mark Madson in at the 4. Not because heâs good, but just to flex on how good this team is.
I was thinking the same thing. I went down a rabbit hole last night watching intros from old Big East Championship games at MSG. And yea, seeing Pitt, against GT in 08, along with others, we didnât know how good we had it.
Granted I donât know that the ACC move killed Cuse. The end of the Boeheim era was always going to be rocky and I canât remember if BC had that much going for them before the jump for that matter.
Yeah, impossible to tease out âmove to the ACCâ from other factors, but one way or another, the ACC did buy at the peak.
Cuse and BC will probably return to the big east, but Pitt has a spot in the Big 12 eventually if they want it I think.. can you imagine that program having to play Kansas, BYU, TTU, Arizona, and ISU?
Yes in the most ACC thing ever, they bought high and will sell low.
Didnât ACC essentially buy BC based on media expansion and the Matt Ryan football era?
What happens to football in that scenario or do you see the Big East picking up football gain?
@Hooandtrue called this last year.
The remainder of the left behinds from the ACC merge with the Big East and retain football plus pick up UConn. They probably end up picking up some of the app states, JMUs, or libertys (gross) of the world to round out the football league.
Youâd be looking at Syracuse, BC, GT, Wake, mayyyybe Duke (think theyâll receive Big 12 interest) and then UConn with a football team. Maybe itâs not formal inclusion but a scheduling agreement with the AAC or Sunbelt to fill out schedules.
West coast teams recede back into that PAC 12 league thatâs semi-respectable now. (Could also see them receiving interest from one of the other leagues, but thatâs iffier)
No idea what happens to SMU, theyâre a massive wildcard in all of this.
Not a bad plan. Iâd be okay with the rebirth of the Big East.
SMU has to be able to buy their way in the Big 12 right?
Iâd also love to see a Big East new Pac 12 playoff bracket. Winner take all of the everyone else.
Grew up and went to college in Western NY, coached at different places there too for a chunk of his early coaching career (was an Oats assistant at Buffalo before moving with him to Alabama).
Yeah that probably makes sense for the ponies. Not sure the other Texas teams want them in there, but may not be as much of an issue since theyâve already gotten the âpowerâ conference bump.

Makes for a nice clip, though I wonder if his agent has talked to any schools with openings (or about to have openings) about jobs? Backchanneling for me, but not for thee?
Bobby Hurley is in a liminal space right now, but is self-aware about it
