Lionel Messi missed a few tonight i thought he would pit away easily.
His pass for the second goal was immaculate however.

Unfortunate red card for Ecuador… it was a red card, but he didnt mean it.
Yeah that was a buzz kill. Big win for Venezuela but doubt they get it without the red
Beautiful opening goal.
(Bolivia is very bad)
Watching soccer for the first time since the last World Cup. 2-0 USA at the half… you’re welcome.
Wake me up when the US wins
Bolivia is the lowest ranked FIFA team in the tournament… if we dont win by multiple goals we would have massive problems.
We don’t look very good compared to what I feel like a national team should. Granted I’m not a soccer person, but we miss a lot of plays that at a pro level I don’t feel like you see in other sports. Of course it is more difficult when you can only use your feet…
Here’s a ? For our soccer peeps. This tournament is broken into groups and you play round robin to advance… why don’t they put one group in one city to reduce travel? Just looking at the USA schedule it’s 8 days, 3 games in 3 different cities.
Yeah we haven’t looked great given completion. A 4 or 5 to nothing win would make me feel marginally better.
Its so more fans can see each team…
Also… they are dominating this game… easily.
No team plays perfectly in the last third.
If you have been watching the Euros… dominant teams have been losing or scraping by.
Isn’t dominating this team kind of like how we dominated Texas Southern?
Like I said I’m not a soccer person but I’ve seen multiple missed passes, multiple not even close shot attempts, and a dude who was supposed to be taking a 10’ pass run straight through the ball for a turnover. Weird stuff to see at the top professional level to me. Leaves some to be desired IMO.
US looked really good in the first half. Good touch, creativity and possession. Defensively never bothered .
Dominant soccer does not look like dominant basketball or American football.
Possession percentage and amount of time and touches in the offensive third are good indicators.
Texas Southern would be like playing Barbados.
Bolivia is more akin to like Syracuse.
(And your commentary is like what it would be like if I was watching hockey.)
Haha Fair enough. What’s a reasonable expectation for how far we go in this?
Pepi and Pulisic shouldve both just scored. We do not have the killer stiker like Altidore and Dempsey used to be…
We’ll make the knockout round… but will most likely run into the buzz saw of one of the more powerful South America countries.
Have to also remember that national teams are worse than club teams…they barely practice together and quality of coaching is poorer than European clubs. Having a lot of high quality chances/shots is a better predictor to being good than converting those chances . We won easily at home but that was the weakest team.
Best case reasonably possible scenario is probably we get clearly outplayed by Brazil or Colombia in the quarters but are able to manage a tie and advance on penalties. Then lose to Brazil, Colombia, or Uruguay in the semis
Yeah I caught the announcer saying in the closing minutes that this team will ultimately be judged on can they win a game after the group stage is over. Sounds about where Jazz has them and what you’re saying.
And some of the most successful national teams recently have been underwhelming offensively (sometimes by design!) but defensively rock-solid. Thinking about France especially, who has the talent base to support a front-foot, possession-based style of play, but has often played fairly defensively in major tournaments to great success.
