I think getting out of the group should be par/expected from USMNT although context matters (who else in group etc). Of course it’s about to get easier in next WC with third place wildcards getting in too now.
I’d say we are a borderline top 16 team so round of 16 makes sense. We don’t have talent level for quarters but matchups, a great coach that can extract extra value could be the difference.
All I want is for it not to be some mediocre MLS coach. I will happily convince myself some European retread can finally figure it out with our squad but I don’t want to try and believe some dude finishing a surprising third in MLS some random season is gonna turn us around.
I mean… if i were a betting man, its going to be a teammate of Berhalters… dont know which one, but an ex-player seems to be what would be the easiest glideslope.
Cherundolo has some whispers… if that materializes we’ll just go from an ex-USMNT center back to an ex-USMNT right back.
They should just go lateral and hire Lalas to see the calamity that would ensue. Center backs are always great coaches right?
They should make me coach. We would win the World Cup. And there would be none of this rolling around on the ground feigning a shin injury bullshit. And lebron James would start at goalkeeper.
It’s not clear how much of the responsibility is on CONMEBOL vs the local stadiums/security providers, but this venue is also supposed to host World Cup matches in 2 years, so they gotta fix some processes. I wouldn’t be surprised if CONMEBOL cheaped out on security, as they don’t seem like a well-run org.
Yeah and hosts for any event of any size have responsibility for ensuring that they can create a safe and orderly environment. It doesn’t excuse the individual behavior of course
No but maybe you should be very prepared for the final with a fanbase that is notoriously rowdy and got into a fight with an opposing team. This was entirely predictable and yet someone failed to plan for it
