Hmmm- not ONE call in Kadin’s favor all year…when that happens you tend to complain about it.

I get that speed kills but I really think that because he isn’t that fast but seeks body contact that it will be super helpful in garnering some fouls causing foul problems for opponents. He’s basically a slasher who can finish at 6’1. I think we need more of those types of players that can go downhill and draw contact.

If he was bigger and right handed he has the body of a Trevor Keels maybe?

Same background Tipton used for Lang last week.

The addition of Ames in addition to Wharley, is solid evidence that TB is making changes to the offense. We now have a stable of shooters AND slashers

Tony and staff gets an A

I agree that we have slasher’s but i don’t see a stable of shooters. Taine and Rhode haven’t proven that they can be counted on as consistent shooters that could be relied on. The only 2 shooters that we have on our roster are IMAC and Powers. Saunders could become a 34-38% shooter though we’ll have to see.

Ames, Saunders, Power, Taine, and Imac are all shooters

I’d counter and say that Taine is a pretty reliant 3 point shooter. He was 45% on low volume. I would say on high volume he’s in the high 30s which is pretty good.

I think taine should be counted as a shooter and liked his decisiveness getting downhill on cuts towards the end of the season. I think he will play a larger role with good offensive efficiency this season.

Taine didn’t even attempt a 3-pt shot in 14 of our games last year. Almost half. Whatever numerator and denominator to get a stat kinda pale next to that stat.

Taine was a punch line until the last few games of the season. Can he become reliant? We shall see…

I think Saunders is going to be a really solid shooter for us. 37% in conference play last year. Not a dead eye shooter like Power but solid enough and someone you have to respect

We don’t need a “stable of shooters” if we have players that can put pressure on a defense in other ways that need to be respected. We didn’t have that last year -
If the 3 pt shot wasn’t going, we had all
Of 1 guy who could create any sort of offense.

And I’d argue we have enough shooting anyways
2 premium level guys in IMac and Power (maybe Sharma too if he’s ready)
A few other guys with the ability to be serviceable that can’t be ignored out there (Ames, Taine, Saunders)
A few wild cards (bliss, Rhode (hopeful for improvement/reversion to mean a bit))

So no we don’t have a lineup full of upper 30/40 percent guys, not many teams do.

I hear you but I don’t think it was Taines fault Tony was hell bent on trotting Rohde out there like he did. But when Taine was called on, he generally produced and shot the ball well.

I like that Taine is not afraid to take the shot

He had a funny way of showing his courage

Just as a for example, Taine’s shot % has dropped every year. Last year it was 13.6%. That’s very low. Par is 20% (100% divided by 5 players)

The narrative that Ames can create his own shot is not rooted in fact. He struggled to get to the basket and convert last year.

I’m guessing most folks are watching the transfer reel where they only show made buckets or HS tape where he used athleticism to dominate.

Would love if he was a guy that could get a bucket but not there currently. Maybe it will be developed.

I will mostly think of Ames as a Dante replacement. And I feel reasonably confident that he will not disappoint in that role.

Good way to look at it. His floor is definitely a solid backup PG. His ceiling is tbd but I like that there’s still a lot of potential we could unlock unlike a guy like Dante who I felt was at best a decent backup PG option
