So here’s a game I’ve played on a couple of other boards. With 2024 almost done, let’s do it for 2025 with Hoos hoops.
How it goes:
I’ll start. Fact or Fiction…we play in the NIT this postseason.
Fiction… questionable whether our Net will be high enough to make it and also everyone will be on the move as early as possible so probably not enough players to go.
Fact or fiction -
the Hoos would be a Top 50 team by simply removing Rohde from the roster?
Fiction. The problem is a lack of point guard rather than too much of any one player.
Fact or fiction: this is a tournament team with Warley and Tony as originally constructed.
Fiction: Warley himself was very limited offensively as we saw the offense struggle in those preseason scrimmages with him (even if he had a wrist still not 100%). Warley’s assist rate was much lower than typical UVA pgs and that was playing in a much faster FSU pace.
Fact or fiction -
Tony Bennett would still be coaching today if he had landed OG Funny Story aka London Johnson.
Fiction. If it wasn’t Johnson, I’m sure there are plenty of other comparable situations that had Tony pulling his hair out.
Fact or Fiction. UVa’s 2025-26 HC is at a P6 HC job right now.
It was TJ Power guys. We spent so much time on him and he comes back after his Duke year and wasnt able to get back to Peach Jam level evaluations and it is all obviously broken
To bring it back to the chain, Im going fact. Gut feeling our next head coach is one of Rhoades Byington Moser or Shaka (of course could be wrong, especially since Odom is a likely candidate)
Fact or Fiction: the current results of the team would be no different if it was Williford or Sanchez head coaching
Tough one, but I’ll go fiction. I think JWill might have broken the mold a bit.
Fact or Fiction: in 2028 UVa will be in the B1G
Heart says fact, head says fiction. Joining the BIG is the one move that could get Hoos back into relevancy, but just don’t see the current anarchy on college sports resulting in a sane decision regarding conferences and alignments
Fact or Fiction- Imac will be the teams leading scorer next season
Fiction. iMac will be on Kentucky’s roster next season.
Fact or fiction. We keep at least 3 players on the current roster next year under a new HC
Fact. I don’t want to guess on specific players but I think at least 3 stay.
Fact or Fiction: UVA will finish above .500 in conference play this season.
Fiction - We go 10-10
Fact or Fiction:UVa fails to break 70 points in any game in conference play
fact - this offense explains itself .
fact or fiction uva sweeps VT this year
Fiction - Lose at Tech. At home will be close
Fact or fiction - We will beat a team that winds up with a winning ACC record
Fact. ACC isn’t real strong so chances of beating a team with a winning conference record isn’t out of the question.
Fact or fiction. Kyle Guy will be on the coaching staff next year
Fact. Whoever the new coach is will quickly see how attached the program’s recent history is to Kyle, and will find a spot.
Fact or Fiction…we get at least a 1 day bye in the ACC tournament.
Fiction. Zero chance. The players will be checked out by 2/1 and lining up there next spot on a roster. The good news is that it may open up the offense because they will be playing for their next opportunity.
Fact or Fiction: Ron will be coaching a HS team in five years?
Fact. Ron will start and be the sole owner of a Faith based HS built on the pillars. It will be The Liberty of high schools and kids will forgo NIL opposrtunities to “hoop for the cause” but have facilities rivaling the Dallas Cowboys
Fact or fiction. The early nineties ACC teams would beat every 2024 ACC team by 30
Fiction, all those guys were plumbers.
Fact or fiction, I just pissed off a bunch of old heads.
