Fall Recruiting Action

Bronnie is how ESPN will manufacture front-page Duke coverage for those 3-4 years.

He should go play for Blakeny at Howard.

i mean if ever there was a perfect situation… the primary sell for Duke at this point is NIL and exposure, inclusion in the fake ā€œBrotherhoodā€, right? Bronnie needs none of that and could make a hell of a statement going to an HBCU with zero of the risk that other top 100 recruits might have by going to a smaller school.

However i’ll go one further and ask for him to come to Durham and play at NCCU for Moton… i live like 2 miles from their campus and would enjoy the juxtaposition of him being in Durham but NOT at Duke.

Duke is already Duke. I don’t know that they can recruit any better than they already have the past 10 years. And it’s not like Duke having a great team blocks us from top 4 seeds or anything. We’ve both been 1 seeds in the same season multiple times.

Even if it gives Duke a boost I’d rather that boost stay in the ACC in these unstable times. Let’s keep all of the focus on Duke and off Kentucky. The ACC needs every advantage it can possibly find to stay in the fight with the SEC and Big Ten.

Okay so you make some good points about *keeping the attention here in the ACC which I understand. I just FUCKING HATE dook. …I can’t stand wanting to watch bball and it be a dook serenade.

If Scheyer continues to bring in GREAT recruits after Roach K leaves, then that will be ANOTHER 30 years of dook being *atleast decent due to their recruiting, and coaching may follow.

Bronny can do just as well going to UCLA with Mick Cronin, and stay in Los Angeles.

Also- I think you’re going to regret wanting even MORE attention on dook bball. Let’s not tempt that fate.

It really doesn’t bother me when comparing it to the alternatives. I don’t watch the studio shows or anything. When I watch non-UVA games I typically have music on rather than listening to the broadcasters until the last 2-3 minutes. Crunch time the commentary is usually focused on the current game. And our games I guess I’m accustomed to 50% of the time the broadcasters talking about stuff that isn’t related to the current game anyway. So at that point it doesn’t annoy me anymore if that off topic conversation is Duke rather than the NBA or Trae Young or Kentucky or Bama football.

To clarify I don’t necessarily WANT more attention on Duke. But I’d take more attention on Duke or UNC over Kentucky, Kansas, or the Big Ten any day of the week. And I agree with you I’d be perfectly fine to see Bronny stay at UCLA or another Pac 12 school. But if he’s coming East I hope it’s one of the 14 other ACC programs.

When is the NBA’s next agreement up? Always figured the age minimum would be removed just in time for Bronnie to go straight to the Lakers to be with Pops.

So, would having the younger James on a squad be a blessing or a curse? Maybe, just maybe, if the program was operating in obscurity, and needed to draw attention to itself, signing Bronny might help. If the program is already a high profile operation, then I have a suspicion that he would prove to be an unwanted distraction, unless he improves his game significantly from what we have seen thus far. Just my opionion, though.

End of the 23/24 season. The momentum to change the draft age seems to have wained too. Tends to happen when the NBPA is dominated by 30+ year olds.

I’d chalk Bronny up as a helpful player. Kid can play a bit not program-changer but he’s a legit player that could contribute. Any team that signed him would likely have enough structure in place to handle the extra of Lebron and ESPN showing up to random games. The key is having a coach who is strong enough to handle the spotlight.

Ah still a bit out. I agree the interest has quieted down a bit over the last year. But I have to think if LeTravel wants it and puts his foot down, the NBAPA will be more likely to move it to the top of the agenda.

Wonder if he even wants it? What’s more valuable to a guy like LeBron? Helping his friends stay in the league an extra couple years or getting to play with his son ASAP? Especially since his son is a marginal NBA prospect and would be better served taking his development slowly.

Great question. If I recall he’s always stated a desire to play with his kid. Granted even though he’s shown some signs of age, it feels safe to say LeTravel can play until he’s 40 if he wants easy.

I know I read somewhere that Bronny wanted to play for Duke, probably in part because K coached one or more of the US national teams that LeBron played for. At the time I read that, however, K had not announced his retirement.

Duke sucks
