Iām guessing that players were responsible to memorize was much shorter than the document delivered to the UNC admin.
I watched Bill on the Peyton / Eli show last nightā¦heās got the personality of a door knob.I know heās a football genius, but he really failed to say anything poignant.
On a show where itās all about being off the cuff or nerding out about football, he failed both.
I say that because I think he will 1) struggle to connect with young adults and 2) think heās going to struggle to adapt to the college game.
If he can get kids into buying in that he will get them to the NFL and by doing so completely buy into his rigid system, maybe he can have success. But I think this will blow up spectacularly for UNC.
It was the size of NFL playbook so a cple hundred pages easy.
@Hoohoohoo I agree Belichick is extremely dry on television. But from every account heās not as bad in-person. I actually think he will do well at the college game. His tactics interacting with players are much more aligned with the college game than the NFL game. Being the CEO/Pres and face of a program works for coaches in college not in the NFL. Those players are far more willing to buy into what heās selling.
Thatās fair, I was imagining a couple hundred pages of organizational minutiae, but the playbook makes a lot more sense!
This is a good point. College sports are kinda the last refuge for the would-be benevolent tyrant types. Pro sports (at least in the US) tend to more cleanly separate personnel/roster management from coaching nowadays.
Haha itās got a fair amount of organizational minutiae. Itās amazing how much detail and control coaches like him go into it. Thereās not rock left uncovered so to speak.
Yep my understanding has always been Belichickās downfall in NE was when him and Brady began to riff and he started to think he was bigger than Brady. College athletics especially football a coach can get away with that. Most programs the Coach is the face and players fall in line.
Iām skeptical of his chances if he expects reading to be involved at unc
Will the media be told every UNC player is questionable every week?
As a former fantasy football player, thatās what I remember about the Patriots.
Going to be weird to hear āweāre on to App Stateā in the postgame presser.
Itās gonna be such an unbelievably stark culture change now with BB. You go from Mack Brown telling these 4 and 5 star kids anything and everything they want to hear all in order to get them signed to UNC, to now Emperor Palpatine in a hoody telling these 18 year olds how much he thinks they fuckin blow at football.
UGA requires memorization of Miranda Rights.
And never draft a patriot running back
Ha! A buddy told me that theyāve appended forfeiture of your driverās license to that and provide a frat bro to chauffeur.
This is how you win with a talent deficit. He should be our next HC.

I donāt necessarily know if this will work for them, but I am very jealous seeing them make a truly all-in football move. I imagine conference realignment insecurity is a big part of this, and signaling that they are āseriousā about football is a good move to attract suitors (even though they are already certainly safe). I just canāt get over how ridiculous it is that we are trotting out Elliott year 4 in this environment.
We canāt even afford the rest of Elliottās contract if we have to hire another coach. Weāre definitely not swimming in the same waters as UNC.
Curious to see how this plays out for Belichick. I think can work in college but itās a narrow needle to thread. Recruiting may be his biggest issue. 3 years means he has to knock it out the park in year one or it could stagnate quickly
