šŸˆ Football 2024-2025 Head Coach Wishlist

It is not gonna work. He is beyond his years and used to way more staff and expertise. Oh and Tom Brady

When he realises kids have to pretend to go to class and not be able to watch film all day he gonna be baffled

What he has done at least in the short term is make their department go all in on football. He’s apparently signing on with the promise of a significantly increased NIL budget, full GM staff, full revenue share from the house settlement and increased budget for his staff pay.

Idk how it’s gonna work out but UNC is full sending into this plan. They’re either gonna come out looking like geniuses or idiots.

UNC always had all that. Since time started. He will make nearly zero difference in college football

The desperation is hilarious. This will be a complete failure if you’re expecting the playoffs

Its absolutely a desperate move and one that could set them back years if it goes south.

UNC should hire Ron Sanchez as the new football coach and clown everyone. Dummies

What was the last college team to have a player-coach?

Joe Gieck?

Ah, yes. The failed attempt at the trip. Shame he didn’t pull it off. He wouldn’t have gotten into any more trouble. However, he is a legend at UVA for the attempt.

Still see him a lot. He was the trainer my last 2 years at UVA. I see him at most football games and his season tickets are a few rows behind mine for basketball. Good guy.

Man, I had Dickert pretty high on my list of potential Elliott replacements next offseason. I was hoping there wouldn’t be much turnover in the P4 ranks this offseason since last offseason was so crazy and schools are loading up to prepare for revenue sharing. Alas…

I think Silverfield or Sumrall are the guys I’d target.

Sumrall is going SEC next year. There will be a couple openings there. I’m dubious of Memphis hires. I think their situation is so good that it’s hard to determine if their coach is any good, and Memphis fans don’t love Silverfield. I’m still a big Monken guy until further notice.

This was such a great year to make a move because there were so few P4 HC jobs expected to change hands. I’m turning into a broken record, but I’m just so upset we’re sitting on our hands.

Maybe you know the answer to this question. Any idea what that random TA comment is talking about?

I don’t know if there is anything specific he’s referencing there, but I know Memphis fans expected to be dominant in the AAC the last few years with NIL and Cincinnati leaving the conference, and Silverfield has not won the conference or been in the final AP rankings a single time.

There may be some deeper or off the field reason, but I think he has just not lived up to their expectations in the new era, and I sort of agree with them. I expected Memphis to be a pretty dominant player in the NIL era with the FedEx money.

I am not an expert on Memphis by any means, but here is an article from their student newspaper from a month ago asking if they should move on:

Student newspaper so grain of salt and all that, but the few Memphis fans I know in real life have all said vaguely similar things.

Speaking of new coaches, is Norfolk State changing its mascot to the Fightin’ Dogs?

Yeah, I’m a bit wary of Memphis coaches because they have more resources than the other members of their conference and I want a guy who has won in spite of being out resourced. Plus the last 2 are Norvell and Fuente. Not exactly a VCU basketball-like track record there.

But I think he’d still be high on my list as a definite program floor raiser. Bowl eligible every season type of coach.

The real question for me is-- will Ryan Day stock stoop low enough post-OSU breakup to be in our neck of the woods…

Probably not, but maybe!

I really hope not. 1 don’t want anyone who cries that hard over flags. 2 don’t want a coach who we are guaranteed to be a quick back out the door for the next big job. Would rather stick with Elliott than deal with that honestly.

I’m sorry but I prefer the outcome where we have a whiny winner than a stoic loser. If Ryan Day did so well that he can jump to the next job we would be in a much better place

Want no parts of Ryan day. Dude’s squandered one of the most talented rosters in football year after year deapite having every resource at hia fingertips.
