That’s what her legacy will be but you can’t play to the results. I think the process was good and the reasoning was sound. For example, I think Nebraska hiring Scott Frost was an utter knockout by their AD even though the results have gone sideways

The one thing I’ll say here is that we don’t actually have any idea what the interview/convo about the future/whatever it really was entailed or how it went. Just a lot of Twitter rumors and stuff from JR, which at this point, I don’t trust at all. Dex has said nothing negative and no reports have come out that he’s upset about anything at all - in fact his tweet seemed to very much leave the door open to coming back to UVA in the future. It was other guys not in the room and JR who were all bent out of shape about things and went off on their own tangents on social media.
All that is to say, we have no idea if Carla did a good or bad job in her interactions with Dex because she’s been professional and hasn’t been trying to comment on every Twitter rumor. Until I hear he feels burned or see some credible/verified reporting about that part of the process, I’m not going to assume anything went particularly poorly.

I’m not sure she had a choice not to. Dex is experienced enough in the game to know how it goes and Carla is experienced enough to know you got to have more than one iron in the fire.

Great example. At the end of the day the right candidate may still not succeed on the field. There’s a lot of moving pieces that have to align. I was not a Bronco fan, but I don’t think he was a bad hire it just didn’t work out.

Man all the twitter crap about botched interview questions is just ignorant hot takes…Would I caution anyone about asking collateral type questions in an interview… yes I would… in a phone screen… This was a interview where it absolutely is appropriate for the candidate to discuss options such as relaxing academic standards…etc. the interview is a 2 way street…for whatever reason UVA went in a different direction and I hope those checks clear for the facilities…

I don’t reject the possibility out of hand. There’s a guy named Chris Landry who seems pretty connected to the Louisiana football scene and has 0 connection to Virginia. He mentioned Manning and Virginia multiple times on his podcast over the summer when absolutely no one else not associated with Virginia even mentioned Manning visiting Virginia.

What I don’t get about this article is that Elliott had play calling authority while Trevor Lawrence was there… One bad year with maybe a suspect QB and that conclusion? I don’t know this John Buhler dude but he may have a hint of bias given he predominately covers UGA and Atlanta-based pro teams? And what is fansided.com?
