Yea as a Cowboys fan I woulda loved to wish that mediocrity on someone else
Waking up feeling good. Depending on how the staff shakes out, feel like we should see the new-coach ‘recruiting bump’ we kind of skipped with the Bronco era.
Manny Diaz officially just got hired, I wonder if Dex is now looking to move
That’s the SEC pressure
That would be amazing! Since apparently he was going to come and be a defensive coordinator anyways… But I imagine it being too awkward with some unconscious sabotage (not necessarily by Dex), but potentially some of his party as keeping it from being a reality.
I’m just going to say the controversial thing - I think I’d rather have a more experienced DC or a guy with a rep as an up and coming schemer than Dex. We’ve got a new head coach, he could use somebody who has spent more time calling plays on the defensive side or somebody with a rep for putting together great defensive schemes. Dex has some limited DC play calling experience, but the defenses he was in charge of weren’t great, he isn’t currently a true DC, and he doesn’t current seem to have a rep as a cutting edge defensive strategist. Maybe a little down the line it’d be a good fit, but don’t think it’s a great fit for our current staffing needs. But I also don’t know much about football strategy, so take that for what it’s worth.
I don’t think that’s a controversial stand. I’ve been saying the same thing since Elliott looked like he was going to be the guy.
Bronco could take a shot with Dex because Bronco is established and has a defense background.
Elliott’s got enough new stuff to deal with that breaking in a first time DC would be more than he needs. Get an experienced guy, preferably a former head coach who could help out on the program running stuff too. He can break in a first time OC like Beck or Hagans or someone else since they’re probably going to be running his offense anyway.
Bronco could take a shot with Dex (or anyone) because the defense couldn’t get any worse.
Well that too
