Beating a decent B1G team with the C level game? Seems good to me
Interested in this too. Gut is that itās situationalā¦heās not really a short rotation guy, has been pretty upfront about needing to go deep in order to press all game.
Itās amazing how Chance rebounds as well as he does. He has a knack for it.
Iām going to make a prediction that by the time heās done, Chance will be one of the most beloved Hoos in program history.
Iām still seeing comparisons to Kihei from our fans on social media and such, which I do get to an extent. Theyāre both smaller guards that are tough as nails.
I say this as a forever Kihei truther who loved his time as our PG: Chance will end up being much better than Kihei. I know itās only been five games but this dude is different, he can do things that Kihei just plain couldnāt do on a basketball court.
Yeah itās a stupid comparison lol. Chance has gravity from three. Makes all the difference on offense
I said it when watching Chance play in HS, outside of being small guards theyāre really not alike at all. Chance is much more in the Carsen Edwards mold.
I think you hit on it: They have the same toughness, as well as the same self-confidence and swagger, even as freshmen. Chance is no question a better shooter, but Kihei was a helluva passer. It remains to be seen whether Chance gets to that level. I think he has the potential to do so.
He had 25 rebounds in a game once in high school!
WF with the buzzer beater!!
Also heās got the foul rate of a first-year big learning the hard hedge, which I find hilarious.
Since 2008 thereās one other guy whoās sub-6ft, played more than 50% of minutes, and has committed 6+ fouls/40 mins: Verifying Browser...
Thereās guys who have played less minutes and have had more fouls per 40. But smaller guards donāt normally rack up the fouls.
I love how active he is trying to go for steals but he does need to tone it down a bit lol. Will come with more experience, by year 2/3 heās gonna be an absolute menace on ball.
For everyone cheering the end of low-scoring Bennett-ball, itās worth noting that Virginia scored just 53 points tonight (well, plus 30 more at the line).
Northwestern is a decent team, not a team thatās going to be in the top 20, but decent. Considering UVA is a bunch of guys who didnāt know each other six months ago, it is a solid win. A lot of improvement is needed before ACC play, but that was always going to be the case during this non-con schedule. The defense is considerably better than it was in game one, for example.
If Iām reading Torvik right, UVA is the 2nd best offensive rebounding team in America (behind Tennessee) right now. Verifying Browser...
I never had an issue with low scoring as long as the other team scored less. The thing that always bugged me whether it was during the Bennett era or the Jones era or the Holland era is the slow walking of the ball up the floor. You lose time you could be running your offense to get a good shot. To me it makes zero sense if you are running a half court offense.
We are tenacious on that end. It is a huge contrast to have bigs and guards crashing the boards and battling to get the ball
