My garage door opener stopped working a few months ago. Called a repair guy to come fix it, he said I needed a new one. Quoted me almost a grand for what seemed like a basic no frills unit and installation.
I watched a couple videos, decided I could hang that thing up myself, ordered one from Costco for like 300 and installed it in an hour with 2 ladders, a socket wrench, pliers and a screwdriver. Got my 4 year old to help me which entertained him for the hour.
Like whisper quiet compared to my old one and I can open and close it on a phone app and never have to wonder if I closed the garage just after leaving home for a long drive. Now I wish I changed it out much earlier. Didn’t need to wait for the old one to break before enjoying this minor quality of life upgrade.
