At a certain time of the day, the setting sun shines directly into one of my sensors so that I can’t shut the door for a few minutes until the sun moves a little bit. What can I do to close the garage door if the sun’s shining right into the sensor?

The Internet tells me new garage doors are one of the home improvements that you’ll get the highest percentage back on when you eventually sell. I have no idea if this is true. But the Internet says it.

This is a common issue! Direct sunlight can interfere with the sensor’s beam. You can try:
- Tilting the sensor slightly inward
- Adding a small sun shield or shade (like a piece of cardboard or tubing)
- Switching sensors to opposite sides sometimes helps too

So, UVA just finished 12th in the final Learfield Cup standings for all Division 1 schools for the past year. Can those who were saying that this was the worst year ever for UVA sports get a discount on garage door openers to appease their pain or at least get a garage to hide out in? Inquiring minds want to know.
