Hoos Football Season 2022: A New Era

Pretty sure it’s regular season only

Typically it is total win total on the season bowl included.

Don’t worry stop by tomorrow I got some winners for you. Feeling locked in this year.

Edit: Looking at some other books and looks like @Wahoos is correct. Check your local sports book.

Thought it was regular season only. Bowls are too unpredictable.

Great point honestly never thought much about it. Only dabble in over/under for the season with the Hoos, and lately that number has been in the 4 or 5 range so Bowl game is negligible. And I dont think it factors this year either.

So with this specific staff, though, what’s going to be the turnaround if it’s not on the field? Seems clear they don’t have the force of personality to get it done. Only other thing I can think of making an impact is the new facility but that’s probably still 3 years away from being usable.

Anyway I think this conversation is going to look silly when we are 5-1 heading into the bye. All the doubters will need to apologize to 2J and Tony Elliott

I think new staffs’ recruiting can be disconnected from their early results for a season or two. It catches up to them, but they often can get a bye on won loss records for a while. Groh’s first season wasn’t anything to write home about but the next class was probably the most highly rated in UVA history. London recruited well a cycle or two.

Fwiw, the Atheltic college football gambling guy predicts UVa at 5.8 wins

First depth chart of the year. My takeaways:
-O-line matches up with what we saw late in camp. Leech could start at LT when he returns in a few weeks. CTE in his presser alluded to moving parts on the line but is pleased overall with the development of the line. Josey not earning a starting role is a bit of a surprise to me.
-That WR room…loaded
-Perris Jones over Mike Hollins, for now
-Expecting the D-line to be a really strong position group this year
-James Jackson a pleasant surprise holding down a starting LB role for now. Josh Ahern will factor heavily (and maybe start in future games) but is suspended first half versus Richmond from a targeting penalty against VT (inter-season penalty seems silly to me lol).
-Some question marks for me in the secondary. Hopefully AJ can be a steadying force
-Specialist battles decided
-Notable omissions from the depth chart: Mike Green and Demick Starling, not sure what’s going on there

Secondary has me very worried

Crazy that the secondary is somehow old and young all at the same time. I’m holding out hope that the new scheme may be able to cover some of the shortcomings?!?!

We’re all just desperately hoping that Bronco’s commitment to seniority was hiding some hidden gem younger players and/or the scheme was holding everyone back. If that turns out not to be the case… things could get pretty wild back there.

Judging by Nick Howell leading a Hawaii defense that made Vandy look like the 1999 Rams I’m guessing the scheme is flawed to it’s core in addition to player decencies. Hopefully an upgrade in scheme can at least gimmick the team into something that resembles competences.

Howell was the DC for Vanderbilt in that game

Well damn in that case the Hoos just let go of the defensive voice of our generation…

Hawaii is real bad with a new head coach this year. Once Vandy gets into SEC play it won’t take long for Howell’s defense to fall apart. This will be an adjustment year for us as I still don’t think we have the depth or talent to run a 5 DB defense the way it’s supposed to be ran, but Rud is a highly respected X’s and O’s guy who I think will play to our strengths this season and get us to at least being average.

I thought Wentz medically retired. Did I confuse him with another guy?

Was Wentz (or similar) one of the German OLs?

Nope - he’s a German WR. Maybe one of the OLs is the one we are both thinking of
