Eh we aren’t the only ones who have a slow fight song. I’ll keep the good ole song and strangers who attend can respectfully view our custom if they don’t like it.
I’m in agreement. I don’t dislike the fight song, just rather see it redeployed in a better format. I think it could be bigger and more impressive if they do as you said play a snippet or a hype’d part of it after a score and then save the full thing for the end with a big moment between players and fans. Texas does this with “The Eyes of Texas” They save the full thing for post game with the team and fans, and play other podunk cowboy BS during the game. (Boomer Sooner).
How about some nominees for the new UVA Fight Song?
- Beautiful Loser
- Hit Me with Your Best Shot
- Welcome to My Nightmare
- The Night They Drove Ole Dixie Down
- Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me
I vote for “My Funny Valentine”
The Cavalier Song is our actual fight song.
If you listen closely, the band will sneak it in before playing the GOS.
Once worked a radio show during the Pete Gillian era, and when we do our intro music off a break during the post game coverages we’d play In the End by Linkin Park… I miss Pete.
After TD, before extra point, right?
You got it. At the end they throw in a little Go Wahoos chant.
Cple thoughts there.

That sounds like the most generic football game music hot garbage ever. That’s like someone went to Design your School in NCAA Football 2003 and hit option 2. Hopefully that is never brought back in it’s entirety.

You’re right if they take the last 20ish seconds of that (from the 56sec mark) and gave it a shorter less generic intro that would be the perfect post TD celebration.
Should just do the intro to Party Up (in Here) by DMX. place would go OFF!
re: the 2nd point, that is pretty much what we do now. ends with the “go wahoos” chant that is usually happening as we kick the PAT, and then right into the good ole song. See after the Perkins TD below, you can hear them go right into it
i think we just need to pick the pace of the song up to about 1.25x and a lot would be solved. the swaying of everyone across the stadium is actually pretty cool (TAMU has something similar with some of their cult-ish chants, and i don’t want to really be like them, but the look is still cool)
Yup, I like the chant as the intro to the Good Ol Song/the pre xtra point attempt. My gripe (a small one at best) is the actual Good ol Song is slow and may not be as exciting/uplifting as it could be. Speeding up the Good ol song could work. In my mind if you got the crowd going and hype after a big score in a big game, why cool them off with a slow jam? Keep that party going through the XP and the kickoff. You can cool things down with an end of the night slow jam with the fans and players.
None of y’all ever DJ’d a wedding or a middle school dance?
I think we should have 2 new fight songs.
One for defense:
One for offense:
In the same vein, you could add for the fans “You Don’t Have to Live Like a Refugee.”
Soooo glad to get the numbers off the helmets
Going all orange for the opener. Tony is the anti-Tony confirmed.

Love the video, but won’t lie I am not a fan of the all orange for the football team. Believe it’s the first time they’ve worn it since 86.
Agreed. I don’t want all orange, I just want some orange.
