80 degrees and sunny 4 years in a row. Funny, I never noticed the bikinis…
Germany - not a major city which may have been part of it. No ex-pats really other than myself.
Stupid stuff like restaurants not being open past 8 or being able to watch local sports with friends. Plus the whole family being a 10 hour flight away and the time difference.
Yep that makes sense. I get it
Quaint lasts for about a week
I left the US in 2004 thinking I was going to be in the UK for 2-years… 17-years later, 2-moves within Germany, 4 different companies and 3-kids… I have loved every minute of it! I know it is not for everyone, but for Kyle, he won’t know until he tries it! ![]()
Funny my now grown kids were 3 and 2 months respectively. But their mom is Brasilian although we didnt move to where she is from. Also I didnt go there for work. Looooooing story the aftermath…
This will really depend on where he plays… and how much he makes. If he makes below $100K, then no taxes at all, but if over that amount, then it can be a lot. I pay a lot more than the US in Germany.
There are a lot of wildcards here, but one I haven’t seen touched on is the feedback Kyle is getting from the NBA, generally. If he thinks he’s very close, then it might make sense to play for the Charge this year, impress the Cavs or some other team, and stick around for a call-up or to impress the other teams. The overseas → NBA route does happen (see Gill), but it’s less common, especially for guys at Kyle’s age, I think. Plus it seems really rare, in season.
Interesting I’ve been abroad a few times and always loved it in my 20s but I was a single male and originally 19 making way too much for a kid that age. Looking at it now if i could take my fam I’d be all in but i would struggle if I had to leave my kids behind.
Charge for KG

Also, living in Italy would be fun for Kyle. He’s playing hoops, traveling Europe and making good money. Sounds awesome.
But his wife would be stuck in a foreign country trying to deal with a baby while her husband is gone all the time. She’s away from friends and family, she doesn’t know anyone one, everything she’s used to is different, and she probably doesn’t even speak the language.
For Alexa, it could easily be cool in theory but really suck in practice.
Anyone who says it would be fun in Italy right now simply doesn’t avail themselves of good news sources
Interesting that Herb Jones got the start over Trey. He was their second round pick. Great defender but limited offense.
Guessing it’s a rotation thing so that they have shooters on the floor with the second team.
Herb Jones starting over Trey Murphy is… weird, to say the least. They weren’t even pretending to guard Jones last night on offense and it really mucked up the offense. That Pelicans team is really going to struggle until Zion comes back. They turned it over 28 times last night.
Pretty sure that Pelicans team is going to be in turmoil by December with Zion trade rumors and question marks about whether Ingram can be the guy (spoiler: he can’t).
And the team may be sold and subsequently moved. It’s a really poorly run org
Hadn’t heard the Pelicans may be sold but there’s definitely a lot of front office issues. Zion seemingly wants out. They fired Stan Van after one season as HC they don’t seem to have a direction in regards to building a team. Could get ugly in Nola.
What’s up with Zion? I don’t follow too closely, but I get the impression he could become an NBA legend, or he could become Greg Oden. Which is no slight to Greg, who seems just fine. He’s Titus’s buddy and seems like a good dude, with a family, and is happy in Columbus. Unlike Durant who’s awesome at hoops but doesn’t seem like the happiest guy.
Zion is out again after a foot surgery for a broken foot i believe… but he also showed up to camp and looked a little heavy and out of shape. I worry about his longterm viability given the injury history and his weight
Yeah, the amount of force Zion puts on his joints is absolutely staggering. If his weight goes up at all he could be in for a really bad time.
Zion may be our generations Ralph
