Hoos Going Pro 2022-23 NBA Season

Kind of a random thought…. When Blake Griffin came into the NBA, he was probably one of my least favorite players, and now he is one of my favorite. Read an article yesterday about how great of a teammate he is on the Celtics. And I’ve heard Brad Stevens talk about how fortunate it is to have a guy like him on the team, ready to contribute but also willing to have a string of DNPs. He carved out a nice role with the Nets and now the Celtics (not that he needs the money, because he’s got something like $250m in career earnings).

Quin Snyder is the new Atlanta coach

Dame is something else. On a different team he could be the face of the NBA.

I like the hire. Will wait and see but I think a modern offense will be very good for the team.

I like Snyder as a coach and agree, I think he can be a big help, just not sure the players (Trae) responds, more on the players less on Snyder.

@DFresh11 he was a casualty of Utah blowing up the franchise over the summer.

Nope, resigned from Utah right before they went for their rebuild (not sure which caused what).

He’s a good coach, it will be interesting to see what the offense looks like. Zach Lowe mentioned on his podcast that Snyder started off in Utah running a very equal-opportunity offense with lots of ball movement, trying to work little advantages bigger in the flow of the offense, but then simplified to more ball-screen heavy stuff once Donovan Mitchell emerged as this star player.

I like it for Dre. No clue why but just wanted to say that

Mitchell & Gobert combo could easily be replicated with Trae and Collins or Capella. But again, not sure Trae buys all in.

@DFresh11 He will always find a way. I can’t believe dude found his way to the NBA and then survived and thrived much less got a second chance at it.

Ha same for me man. I thought he was gonna be a college coach forever … hoo knew how crazy the Mizzu after hours scene coukd get.

I believe he did GLeague for some time maybe?

Also he is supposedly genius level intelligence for what thats worth. And will get some of those filipino cookies for anyone that knows where he grea up without looking

I was not a fan of Snyder when he played for Duke. When he was fired at Mizzou after the NCAA infractions, some thought he might not coach again. But, the guy really redeemed himself through hard work and perseverance in the NBADL for three years (wasn’t it in Amarillo?) and then in Moscow that led him back to the NBA and all his success. I’ve got a lot of respect for guys like him that have failures and work hard to overcome them.

Yea my wife has said his night life activity was pretty well known in the athletes circles and she didn’t even go to Mizzu.

I do think he is incredibly smart and know the game. Best I know he’s found success everywhere he’s gone even when it didn’t look likely when he arrived.

Quin Snyder has always reminded me of Patrick Bateman. He just creeps me out. I bet he likes Phil Collins… I will definitely be taking this into account as I decide whether to root for the Hawks in the play in tourney / playoffs…
