Anyone know if anything came of Brogdon and Guy trying to qualify for the Poland national team (coached by Igor Milicic’s dad)
Haven’t seen anything definitive, but also have not seen anything saying Poland has picked their team as of today. It does look like Jeremy Sochan will play for them.
Sochan is native-born or naturalized in terms of FIBA-rules?
I know that Collins really wanted this honor before she retires at the end of the year, and she played as well as any player on the WTA tour this spring not named Swiatek or Sabalenka. While maybe not as vocal as Collins about being on the Olympic team, I’m sure that Navarro is just as excited. Would be great to see them do well at the Olympics, along with all of our UVA swimmers.
Apparently he played for them in 2021 but I’m not sure how he qualified.
Sochan’s mom was born in Poland, moved to Oklahoma to play college hoops and then moved to England when he was a toddler. Interesting Athletic article from around when he would’ve been drafted.
I looked it up and he played for the U16 Polish national team, which means he’s likely counted as a local/native-born player because FIBA rules require having a passport from the country before 16 years old.
Was just checking out the Polish team IG. No sign of Malc or Kyle.
There it is. Then he’s an easy fit. The article I saw about him made it seem like it was a done deal. He’s already played for them at the sr level. They met with the Spurs in the spring and had Pops blessing.
I looked around so no mention or reference to Malc or Guy on anything.
Yeah, Sochan and Igor Jr are on the squad. Igor Sr coaching.
They (Poland) have a qualifying game on July 3 in Valencia. Guess we’ll know for sure by then.

Heilman just claimed second place in the 100 butterfly by .04. The UVA commit is competing in two events in Paris.
