Listening to the Ringer NBA podcast The MisMatch. Spent time talking about how great Ryan Dunn has been defensively and how players coming out of a Tony Bennett system has a chance to play early bc they know how to play defense. They did say it will be interesting what type of player comes out of Virginia now that Bennett is gone but they were very complimentary of the players we have been sending to the NBA.

Trey’s still hurt.

Do you think Tony would ever consider a second career as an NBA defensive consultant? Not teaching pack line, but helping players get better at defense?

Huff got that money and then in the two games following gets immediately exposed defensively. Oof but the money is guaranteed

That’s why he couldn’t stay on the court at UVA. But he is fun to watch.

Obviously NBA is much tougher than G League but for Huff:

During the 2022-23 season, he was named the NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year and was selected to the All-NBA G League First Team and NBA G League All-Defensive First Team with Capital City.

My guess is those are just based on high block numbers

I know its early but Ty’s averaging 13ish a game?

Whats up with Hunter? Injured? Haven’t seen him in the Box Score the last couple games. Ty is doing good work and really making a case for himself. People in CLE are starting to see his value. Straight up winner.

He had a good 20+ pt game and the last two he’s been out with injury.

Jay Huff isn’t playing smart ball. Stop the slow close outs and let them shoot wide open and psychologically they will miss.

Jerome had a 2 point game mixed in, so I think he’s at 10.75 through the first four.

Ah missed thst 2 pointer. Still double digits not bad.

Dre might be cooked… cannot afford another injury plaugued season

From a career/legacy perspective, to which I know you are referring, agreed, but with 2nd contract money in the bank and I assume guaranteed moving forward, he can “afford” pretty much whatever he wants. As a Hawks fan, have to hope Jalen Johnson continues his upward trajectory and Risacher lives up to the hype. As a Hunter fan, hoping he gets healthy and finds a team that uses him better.

Of course financially he’s fine all NBA players are. But its not a big stretch to see Hunter out of the league before 32 yrs old. I doubt that’s what he expected and make up that no amount of money will mask that disappointment
