Anytime I see Tenerife referenced, I always think about the deadliest air disaster ever, which was a Boeing 747 trying to take off and hitting another Boeing 747 taxiing on the same runway at the Tenerife airport.
Glad to know I’m not the only one! The KLM pilot really F’ed that up, from my recollection.
The “ask a pilot” guy from Salon wrote a whole book on flying, with a chapter on air disasters. I used to be a very nervous flyer, and oddly, reading about air disasters has helped quite a bit. Now, I’m just a plain old nervous flyer.
