In-season Basketball Recruiting 2022-2023

Jason has to be 1 or 2 years ahead of Kendrik. So basically the same thing, yes

I believe Kendrick graduated high school at Thomas Jefferson in 90 and Williford was 91 at James Marshall At least that’s the way I remembered it.

My bad just looked it up. Kendrick Jr is one year ahead of Jay as you said.

That was my high school years is the only reason I know. We wouldn’t go to the games because we basically sucked but everyone went to see Kendrick. He was electric

So both of my sons go to VCU and we live in Richmond. KW’s number hangs at the Siegel Center. Really wish he had been a Hoo…told my sons there would be another Final 4 banner in JPJ if he had.

Absolutely right. Thats cool man

Edit: I thought you lived in Nicevills Florida

No, we went down there a lot when we lived on the MS coast, but we moved back to RVA when my son finished high school.

Different note, but Yuri Barnes was from that Richmond era too.

I’m going to tell you right now this kid is nowhere near as good as you seem to think he is.

So apparently it wasn’t really an Abraham visit exactly…the whole PVI team came by after their scrimmage at the Miller School. Most of them anyway.

Yes - Warren was at TJ, and Williford was at John Marshall (rather than James). I had to guard both of them multiple times at Freeman. Kendrick was a beast. I got dunked on a few times :grinning:

How good was Jay Willy in HS? I only knew him playing together at Virginia

Believe he was supposed to go to UNLV, but was a Prop 48, and VCU allowed such enrollees.

He crushed it at TeeJay. He and Thomas Meredith were absolute studs.

Manchester HS — I took my SATs right next to him in the spring of 1991.

If I remember correctly, Doug Clements or Mike McClain got so under Jay’s skin in one of the games at DSF that he was T’ed up and almost booted.

I can see that. Jason was always crazy competetive and never backed down. Nolan dont want that smoke!

He was pretty damn good his senior year. I was a junior his senior year and saw him play. Lots of dunks. Kendrick just seemed to dunk harder. Don’t remember much about the rest of their games it was a long damn time ago.

Jay had great hands. Really good rebounder against bigger guys in college and defended 3-4 positions

Yeah I was a huge fan of his in college and have a much better memory of his game at UVA. I only saw him once in high school in a cramped gym. That 95 team is up there as one of my favorites along with Bryant’s entire tenure.

Back in 95… when we had Yuri and Jay in…we called them team Windex cuz they cleaned the glass…
