Jarin Stevenson’s dad. Also didn’t realize John Beilein was a former Richmond head coach.
Also noticed Jarin Stevenson liking a lot of UVA stuff on instagram. But that’s moreso just him teasing us before he commits to UNC Iassume.

He was almost a former UVA head coach. If we had pulled the trigger on Pete Gillen while Beilein was still at UR, there’s a better than decent chance Beilein would have been Pete’s replacement. But Todd Billett won three late-season games with late threes and bought Pete another year. Gale Catlett then retired or got canned at WVU, they hired Beilein to replace him, we got one more miserable year with Pete, then the disaster that was the Leitao era. I spent 6 years lamenting what could have been, but then we got Tony, and I stopped sweating the missed Beilein opportunity.
I hope I didn’t bore you too much with the unsolicited history lesson. Sometimes i forget how young some of you guys are.

I was actually trying to remember these details (and if I had made them up). When I started at UVA, Jeff Jones and George Welsh were the coaches and when I finally left, Mike London and Tony were, so it’s gotten hard for me to remember all the details of our coaching dramas.

This is exactly right. We’ll never know whether Pete would’ve gotten the boot if we had lost those 3 games, but it seemed pretty likely at the time. Pete definitely bought himself another year with the lowered buyout, though.

Shit if I was in HS I would visit whenever I could. Kendrik Warren was at most our weekend games my last year. Legit felt like he was on the team in the lockerroom pre and posf games. Great dude

I don’t really remember but I think he had grade issues which is one of the reasons he ended at VCU besides it being the hometown school. He was awesome though. He would just destroy our high school teams in the Richmond area.
