In-season Basketball Recruiting 2022-2023

Different situations if I remember correctly. Johnson enrolled at his new school pretty quickly and played second semester. Harrell didn’t decide on Auburn for several months and had to sit out the next year. Johnson has also had a redshirt year at UVA.

I’m sure Charlie Baker will clear it all up! (speaking of, and I generally hate to get near politics/ideology here, but just from first principles, “popular Republican governor of a deep blue state who was a college athlete” seems like a good archetype to run the NCAA. Good luck to him! As Goodman quipped, he has very small shoes to fill, yet will find the equivalent of a steaming pile of you know what waiting for him on his desk).

From last year when they were both at Highland.

Probably important given the area - his tweets show him also having a Maryland offer. Also Pitt, Butler, and Ole Miss just from the ones I saw. So there’s plenty of high major interest coming in already.

I’m curious to see if the DMV becomes more fruitful for us with Wright and K out of the way

Pretty sure both played the 2nd semester after sitting out an entire year. Same for Billy Baron.

Thanks for posting/sharing but I read that to mean we’ll finish 2nd (yet again) for a PVI player.

Oh I have no idea on opinion on Ngongba or what our chances are lol.

Eh, I mean, familial connections and proximity matter, but Georgetown is a dumpster fire right now. I’d honestly be more worried if they fired Ewing and a new coach came in and sold “You can help turn the program around!” than I am that the current staff will beat us out for somebody we really want. But who knows - maybe he wants to stay home.

Maryland is the one I’d worry about more right off the bat. Have some solid momentum going now and are also very close to home.

Maryland is prioritizing Thomas Sorber at the moment.

With Ngongba it is sort of like Isaiah Abraham in that his recruitment really hasn’t even started yet and some of the players are yet to be named schools. Kansas State and Iowa maybe.

Mentions UVA first when asked about colleges at the end. The reverse Jarin Stevenson. He’s ours.

Also Im starting to see what @HoozGotNext was saying in that if he was in more shape physically UVA wouldn’t even have a chance and he would be a consensus top 20 recruit.

Im not saying he’s 2 years with Mike Curtis from being Armando Bacot. I am saying he’s a better 3pt shooter right now as a high school junior than Armando Bacot is now as a college senior.

I don’t believe I’ve ever seen Bacot shoot a 3. Can he make them?

Maybe they should focus on not losing by 4 TDs

For the record, we won’t land him, or him, or him, and not the other guy either, or those two dudes, and not the white kid, or the skinny kid, or the one with the weird eyebrows or the kid with the crew cut.

None of them, bet the house on it.

It was one of those monumental events that so many details stick with you. I had been to championship boxing matches before and walking into the Cap Centre that night had the same feeling. It is unlikely there will ever be another regular season basketball game like it because of iconic players like Ralph and Patrick. The only other college basketball game on that same level was when UCLA/Lew Alcindor faced Houston/Elvin Hayes in the Astrodome in 1968 with the Bruins 47-game winning streak on the line. Kids now leave for the NBA so early, players of this magnitude no longer exist in college basketball today deep into their careers. It was a special time for college basketball.
