šŸ› Introduction for new member (Hav's Playground)

It’s not a normal league, no draft/roster carry over, but if you’re interested, I think it’s a different kind of puzzle to work through.

my main redraft league folded about 3 years ago, and I’m down to just a couple dynasty leagues where I have a roster to set weekly.

So, this question doesn’t really fit anywhere, so I’m dropping it here. Does Ralph ever do in person signings? My holy grail would be an old school #50 jersey and would love the experience in person. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Big Game for our family tomorrow. Some of you know my daughter Grace plays volleyball for Auburn. Tomorrow, as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge, Auburn plays Virginia at Auburn and she is #17 and starts as a middle blocker

Will be a fun/competitive game, and at least the colors are the same. I’ll be wearing Orange and Blue regardless.

It’s on SEC Network at 6:30 EST if you don’t have anything going on and are looking for something to watch.

It’s actually called Dota 2. There was a Dota 1 years back (a Warcraft 3 mod), but Dota 2 is the main version everyone plays now and it’s free to download and has a huge global community.

No need to start with the first one, you can jump straight into Dota 2. Just be warned—it’s addictive once you get into it!

Rajesh- quick question for you as I have been engulfed in Dota 2 since your last post…

If your opponent has placed a sentry on top of a high ground spot without a ward, should I remove it?

I know the enemy can’t see my sentry that I placed there after the fact, thus they think that area is safe. Has this been your experience? Is this a sound strategy?

Also, I have been standing on high ground and getting attacked from low ground to confirm (95%) that the enemy team has a ward there. Works especially well at night time before initial runes spawn. Do you do this?

So one way or the other, you lose. Whatever, life as a Virginia fan is like that.

If their sentry isn’t blocking or revealing much, I’d leave it, let them think the area’s safe. And yeah, standing on high ground to test for vision is a solid move, I use that trick too around rune spots at night.

Rajesh. You ever go bass fishing for real? Not in a video game?

Team LRA,

Happy Thanksgiving week my friends. I hope everyone is gearing up for a good week or weekend with friends and family. It’s one of the best weeks of the year so I hope you all are enjoying it. I am encouraging you to blow off most work commitments and just read LRA all day and potentially measure micro-angles on the high hedge vs the flat-hedge, but I digress

I have been following my daughter around the SEC for volleyball and have been more disengaged than usual. But she just got smoked in the SEC tourney quarter- finals by Kentucky who is the #2 team in the country. Auburn volleyball is a bubble team so we will see how that works out for the NCAA tourney. Proud of my girl.

There are a lot of different threads on the website right now. I don’t think that’s a bad thing, but I honestly don’t know where to go to post my wandering thoughts so I thought I would go here.

A few thoughts:

  1. Is this the biggest game in UVA football history? There haven’t been a ton of big games but I feel like this is a big or the biggest one on a while? Definitely top five – correct? I feel like this will dictate the coaches future to a degree and the future of program. We are home and we are playing a team that has struggled all year with coaching issues. We should beat them by a lot right?

Or you could say it’s an in-state rivalry and records don’t matter and I agree with that as well. Wow it’s gonna be a great game. I hope we beat the shit out of them because I went fishing the other day and lost a couple lures on a stick in the reservoir near my house. You can read about the difficulties here when Bass Tech won their only club championship. Not a bad read and hilarious that this is their crowning achievement.

  2. The Greenbriar thing was a bad decision all around in my opinion. It sounds cool, but I think I saw a trophy walleye hanging against the wood paneling during the broadcast. I wasn’t there, but on TV it looked like we were playing in a Moose Lodge in Ohio.

If you want to attract big-time players and recruits, don’t go play in a Moose Lodge ballroom. Go somewhere tropical or you can do what we did and play in the #GreatAlaskanShootout. That may not exist anymore and I’m too lazy to google it, but it was a cool experience. But we played in a real arena.

  3. We aren’t great right now and probably won’t be great by the end of the year. But we’ve got some good pieces and I like Coach Odom. I don’t buy into the fact that they haven’t played together for a long time because basically every other team is just like us. That’s a tired excuse to a degree- not totally dis-missible and not totally valid.

  4. Forget X/O’s for a minute, or style of play, I don’t feel like we have a real pecking order for our players. Who is our leader? do we have an Alpha? We need a solid number one, a solid number two, and then the other three guys that start. That needs to happen before we get really good. Good teams have that. Do we? I feel like it rotates for us and I don’t love that. Give me a real leader and we might end up being good.

  5. I love Chance, but let’s pump the brakes. He’s really good off the bench, and I love him there for now. But his production will change if he becomes a focal point of the scouting report for the other team. Let’s let him come off the bench for a little while and surprise people. I love his energy off the bench and his hustle and everything about him, but I want him coming off the bench until 2026. As Red Auerbach used to say, ā€œit’s not who starts the game, it’s who finishesā€œ. No doubt he’s been good but let’s pump the brakes and let him come into his own for now.

  6. I am not going to comment on the European players yet I love the Euros and I’m willing to bet they become very good but they are adjusting to the pecking order. None of them were the leaders of their respective teams. Are they leaders now? I don’t know. Is Malik Thomas the leader? I don’t know. Somebody’s got to be a leader who’s really good.

Speaking of Europe, I was in London last week and couldn’t print out a document for about an hour in a hotel. That’s basically what they are going through X100,000. But it’s not a long leash. Step up and dominate because they are good. LFG

  7. Also, I’m so happy we’re not watching Bennet/Sanchez ball ball or whatever you want to call it. While I always appreciate CTB (and Ron for filling in) I dont hate scoring points. It’s more fun and the defense thing will get better. Was sick of cheering for good defense and shot clock violations. This is more fun for me personally. It’s about to get real, so let’s buckle up

  8. Also, my daughter’s Auburn Volleyball team is on the bubble for their NCAA bid. I’m awkwardly calm being on the bubble- been through this before as a Virginia fan

Eat. Drink Be Merry this week! Much love and Go ā€˜Hoos

PS- This is all Ed O’Bannons fault

No, this is not the biggest game in UVa football history………..it’s the biggest football game in history. No qualifiers. Everyone needs to act accordingly and show a lot of Bass Tech hate.

On that note, please share a favorite VT joke (and for those of you married to a Tech alum I’m not suggesting spouse swapping).

One to start - many years ago prior to VT going coed (1974), one of the new students who was part of the Corps of Cadets at VT asked an older cadet what men of the Corps did for sex. The older Hokie nodded to one the bulls grazing nearby and told him quietly under his breath that most everyone used the ā€œsex bullā€ when the urge got too great. The new cadet was repulsed and thought never! But after a few weeks, hormones were raging and so the cadet headed out for the sex bull. The next day, when reporting, the youngster was beat up, bruised and bleeding - the older cadet inquired as to the cause if the injuries, so the new student shamefully related how horny he had became and how he had tried to mount the sex bull, who was having none of it and proceeded to stomp the young cadet. The older one nodded knowingly and said ā€œI see the problem - most of us just ride him into Blacksburg to the local brothel.ā€

Worst Halftime show-EVER!! NFL should be embarrassed. That sucked.

It was a fun, entertaining show that had great set design.

Now, I don’t really know Bad Bunny’s oeuvre, but the NFL isn’t demographically trying to figure out how to get me to watch the Super Bowl.
