I don’t think we’ve ever had this much roster continuity going from one year to the next under TB, so it’s hard to say how much better this team will be. At the very least the additional experience this group has in our system will certainly be a benefit, and you could argue that we were playing like a tournament caliber team by the middle of ACC play last year so it’s not like we’re returning to a group of scrubs. Not taking into account any of the games on this trip (because honestly I don’t think they’ll tell us much) I think this team doesn’t necessarily have the highest ceiling but will have a very high floor, maybe the highest in the country.
Fred couldn’t have hoped for a better outcome. He’ll be reminding us all about it and making up advanced metrics to support his conspiracy theories all fall.
Loveland 100… haha… was never brave enough to try that one… helped pace one of my buddies on it years ago… 10 of us took 10 miles legs and ran with him.
Send @rushdacote to camp out in Worcester after he leaves Italy!
Good games back to back from Traudt and Shedrick
Mega locker room. (Mostly shirt on, fwiw)
And final point totals:
Murray is the second leading scorer versus our most difficult opponent so far. I’m officially on the Taine train now!
Need Reece to step up and start scoring at volume
I can’t help but notice they scored 93 points
@rushdacote what’s your diagnosis of the primary issue? They were just better athletes? Our defense hasn’t rounded into shape? Traudt didn’t play?
Seems like we scored just fine. But they hung 90+ on us. So I’m guessing defense has some issues.
93 points against our almost entirely veteran lineup. We got work to do.
euro/ international high level hoops is kryptonite for the pack line
edit: and I dont have to even see the game
Do we have stats on the Mega offense? Saw Darney tweeted they hit 13 threes but no denominator on that. Just kinda interested in how they attacked the packline.
I remember tony mentioned it too during spain trip (although Mega is better by a mile than the teams we played in Spain), Euro Ball is UMBC on steroids. 5 shooters all moving and the ball on aswivel.
cause every player on the floor for them is a threat from 3 is my guess
There it is
Haven’t seen a denominator yet, except what Rush posted at halftime
So here’s my box score, noting that is clashes slightly with the totals listed above for the players. I had both Gardner and Murray for 8 points, for instance. I might have missed a DR, but I feel pretty confident about everything else. Here’s what I’ve got:
starters:
Kihei 3/6 2s, 1/4 3s, 9 points, 1 DR, 1 steal, 5 assists, 1 TO
Beeks 2/6 2s, 1/1 3s, 2/2 FT, 9 points, 4 steals, 4 assists, 1 TO
Armaan 2/7 2s, 4/4 FT, 8 points, 1 DR, 2 steals, 1 TO
BVP 0/2 2s, 0/1 3s, 0 points, 3 DR, 1 assist, 2 TO
Shedrick 8/10 2s, 1/1 3s, 19 points, 5 OR, 7 DR, 1 assist, 2 blocks, 3 TO
bench:
McKneely 1/3 2s, 2/4 3s, 8 points, 1 DR, 1 assist, 2 TO
Murray 2/2 2s, 1/7 3s, 1/1 FT, 8 points, 1 OR, 1 DR, 2 assists, 1 TO
Garnder 3/8 2s, 0/1 3s, 2/3 FT, 8 points, 2 OR, 2 DR, 1 assist, 2 TO
Papi 1/2 2s, 2/3 FT, 6 points, 1 DR, 1 TO
Team: 22/46 (47.8%) 2s, 6/19 (31.6%) 3s, 11/13 (84.6%) FT (=73 points), 14 TO
I wish I knew the other team’s 3P% and TO%, both were higher than ours. We had 7 steals, but that was a minority of their turnovers.
Murray being 1/7 on 3’s tempers those expectations a bit lol.
Murray with the 1/7 after his 3P% with the NZ national team …
McKneely 2-4 from 3. He is my generation’s Michael Jordan
