Great day to be a Wahoo!

Yes. His first season in college was 2021-22; the 2020-21 season is the one that didn’t count against eligibility.

There is no one in the portal outside like 5 or so players that there wouldn’t be a contingent against. They all have flaws. At least warley gives size and positional flexibility

Not surprising that Tony wants to bring in a versatile defender. Yes we all want to fix our offense but we still have to play defense, and our success on that end isn’t a given after we just lost Dunn and Reece.

I’m looking forward to seeing @Cuts_from_The_Corner 's film breakdown on Warley. I imagine Cuts is in his happy place right now, going through mountains of tape…

I really want this to work out for Warley’s own sake and for the sake of the narrative that kids who almost chose us the first time around can still come here and be a better player

Jalen, you are now a Hoo, so I am pulling for you to be great and am choosing to be glad you’re on the team. Please go shoot lots of threes every day and get better at shooting, you can do it!

……am I doing the “be positive/don’t complain” thing right?

And like actually accessible tape against players we know and are familiar with! Cuts doesn’t have to write to away to get access to grainy Summit League surveillance videos where Rohde is dunking over cattle herders / app developers (shout out Parker Bjorklund).

Also keep in mind…6’7 guys who are athletic, can handle the ball, defend on the perimeter, initiate the offense, are interchangeable position-wise AND can shoot are called something…NBA players.

He’s missing one attribute. Granted…a big one…but there’s a lot of positives too.

The ellisive cattle herder turned app inventor is fantastic

Aint nothin more dangerous than a redneck with money. Just go to an SEC tailgate for proof

By all means, complain about adding Warley if you want. He’s an interesting piece to add for next year, and he’s a good first move. We will see what Tony and staff cook up.

Just for fun: adding Warley moves Virginia from 78 to 57 on barttorvik’s 2025 rostercast.

Staff needed a win bad. For that, I’m happy. Warley can defend and his ball handling is legit, go Hoos

Only until Sanchez smacked him up side of the head and said Tony we are Macguyvering another 20,wins but the talent level is lacking…

Tony is shoring up our floor for next season. Ceiling has not been addressed yet.

I just want to say, the complaining about the complaining by taking singular arguments out of context is exhausting itself.

“Oh you were mad that we were undersized, but now you’re mad that our new player can’t shoot? What do you want?!” “Oh you want offense - do you not care about defense?” Just please stop and respond to people’s actual arguments substantively.

You know there are players that both have size and can shoot right? And that they’re the guys that generally elevate teams to high levels? You know players that can defend don’t have to have one-dimensional offensive games? People are making bad faith arguments when they say “Well do you want somebody who can do X or do Y?” when what many of us want is a guy who can do both, because believe it or not, they exist (see so many of the dudes that elevated our program from 2014-2019).

Also, side note, I enjoy the “Well we just have to play him with three other high-level shooters! That’s the plan you dummies” when we currently have - check’s notes - one high level shooter on the roster. Yeah, we’re trying to get some… but we don’t currently have them! That’s the whole point, and why some are nervous when we add pieces that can’t shoot before we’ve got pieces that can.

Anyway, I’ll be pulling for Warley now that he’s here. But the policing of people’s legitimate concerns is tiresome.

Warley was No. 43 in the class of 2021. Rohde was 316 in 2022. Harris was 389 in the class of 2020. It’s a massive upgrade in talent level.

Maintenance staff at JPJ will need this again.
