JMU was working hard to front guys on the interior and deny those entry passes (there had to have been 3+ kicked balls too). Gardner got his points but largely had to make those opportunities on his own. Sheds doesn’t yet have the same skill set.
Kadin is a pick n roll big. They don’t really ask to be fed in the post. Slip screens, roll to the basket, when someone else drives they should be able to hit the occasional open 3 on the kick out (Kadin has a good jumpshot and hit 3s. He pulls an Isaiah Wilkins and doesn’t even look at the basket when he catches it open on the perimeter). Reece and Kadin have chemistry on that screen action.
Love the fourth play where Earth Wind and Fire beats him with a nifty behind-the-back, but he still recovers to alter the shot leading to a wild miss.
When we had a big that wasn’t Jay Huff and Kadin Shedrick. That’s causation, not correlation, my friend.
You can slam it … just have to catch it. If it comes loose, you get a T

Hahaha… that is what they said in this video… it’s funnier because it was Grayson Allen who couldn’t catch it when it bounced back up…
I did that in the state playoffs and the ref told me that … “if that goes through your hands, you are teed up”. I think I had 4 fouls at the time so it would have been even more painful.
I’m done

I love Dunn but this might be the most national press for a 4 point performance against a mid-major team.
LOL.
It’s just so clear what his ceiling is. The defensive versatility is insane. And we appreciate it even more due to the lack of wings on last year’s team.
Dunn Bond and Gertrude is going to be a revelation experience.
Oh, I get it but surprised they get it
Rothstein is also a little biased being from the area.
I remember Andrew Slater, the twitter recruiting guru, was at his commitment announcement and there are a few other media folks who are from that area pumping up Dunn.
Don’t think the feeding the post has been a major part of our offense since Gill, but maybe I’m wrong. Salt certainly wasn’t a major points contributor. Mamadi scored in opportunistic spurts until his final season, so maybe that 2020 team is the last one where we did a lot in the post with a true big? But 2017 and 2018 weren’t very post focused either I don’t think.
Anyway, I think Shedrick has a lot of work to do, I just always find it weird how often our fanbase seems to pick on him when he has one down game relative to other players. His advanced stats are fantastic, his shooting percentages are great, and he’s probably our second best defender/an elite rim protector while having comparatively little court time due to illness and injury the first two years of his career. I just don’t see Sheds as even in the top 5 list of issues that need addressing when it comes to this team, but maybe I’m biased. Also, Sheds’ life would be infinitely easier if the guards could knock down more threes and space the floor appropriately.
Gotta give credit where credit is due
Missing an opportunity for NIL advertising on the forehead
It’s not a coincidence that our best passer, best pick and roll handler, and only decent post feeder the last 3 years is injured for the 2 games Sheds goes 1/3 on FG’s.
edit … Woldetensae was actually pretty good at post passing.
Question for players/coaches - it seems to me that there’s a lot of stationary positioning in the corners which in turn allows the defenders to fall back into the paint area making it more difficult for Shedrick. I do not see the constant motion a la Guy and Harris. Is that by design in the current offense?
I notice it everywhere in college and NBA as well. I have no answer there and I dont like it
