Gotten him to commit? It doesn’t have to be an indictment of the staff. It’s a simple fact that we weren’t able to land the knockout blow, which would’ve been nice. It is possible that he was blown away by uva but is being diligent in taking more visits and hearing more pitches. It is also possible that he’s looking for something he didn’t quite find with us.

I’m talking more the narrative that now comes into play on UVa not being able to close him out. I agree with what you are saying. Bennett has done what he can as far as trailing him everywhere he played after the visit with the exception of when he was sick. The kid has said he had planned taking visits in the fall. You can’t close if the person you’re trying to close on doesn’t want to end things yet.

Ok, well I’m not sure exactly what narrative you’re talking about. There’s the narrative that we “failed” to close the deal, which I think I have said on the board but meant more as a status update and not a criticism. Then there’s the narrative that UVA will be unable to close him out in a long drawn out recruiting battle against blue bloods. That’s probably going to be the predominant issue from here.

This is probably gonna carry to the fall with the kid more than likely deciding in November. It’s not that drawn out with UVa offering him in April or May. The good news, even with blue bloods involved, he’ll have the option to visit UVa again. And right now, even with the new offers, UVa is more than likely leading. The new offers probably muddy things up but it’s still good to be in the driver’s seat.

I’m being realistic when I say, have we ever beaten out UNCheat for a recruit, and a *newly invigorated UCLA (In California, major city), and a Kansas team? Once dook or Kentucky offers it will be 100% nil.
Let’s not put our heads in the sand and not acknowledge that chances got MUCH slimmer. Driver’s seat? It doesn’t matter if he decides to open the door and duck and roll out.

Traudt was very good, and will be great for us, *but he is not exploding like Power is right now…now if he decides to *not take any fall visits then it will be the same as Traudt. Here’s to hoping.

I can tell ya 100% Momcilovic hadn’t told anyone as of yesterday. Today, possibly with Shaw posting that. The people I talked to on Saturday that said Iowa State leaning are about as close to it as anyone you’ll find.

With Power, I’m of more than one mind.
On one hand I’m anxious and doing more research on a HS kid than is probably healthy.
I just looked up his OV list; he’s got two more left, so two of IU, KU, UNCheat and UCLA are SOL on that front. Obviously, one can fall in love with a school (or find a bag) on an unofficial as easily as an official, but I’m betting he uses all his OVs at least. Probably visits all four anyway.
On the other hand, I’m at peace with the fact that we got one of those OVs this summer and CTB has pressed hard ever since. We’ve given our best shot.
UVa sells what UVa has to sell. UNCheat and KU sell something else. So the real questions are what are his top criteria and does UVa fair better than others in those areas?
My guess is that we don’t. Even before the breakout, I wasn’t convinced we were leading ND.
Would love to have him; offensively, I think he’d open up so many things now that we’ve reloaded shooting a bit with the last class.
