Looking at the 2021 Recruiting Horizon

I forget which year but there was one season where Ifelt like literally no one drove to the basket and we maybe had 4 freethrows a game

So the scuttlebutt on TheSabre seems to imply that Kirk Penney is no longer on the staff. Not sure how that impacts Murray

Lots to like there. Good hops, good shooting form, and really good shooting off of a strong looking crossover back step. My vague familiarity with international hoops leads me to guess that the NZ league has plenty of former high level D1 talent. So putting up serious numbers at his age is saying something.

He mentioned Penney in the article today so if he’s gone it’s recent. Maybe he’s just back in NZ riding out the pandemic

I’ll wait on official channels to confirm if that’s true. But what I’m hearing is, if say that’s hypothetically true, they don’t feel it matters with Murray. Penney’s working this for us wherever he is, and so is Jack. Small basketball community in NZ.

Saw a lot of new replies and got excited and thought maybe something had happened. News is basically that Murray is down to three. Seems a sign that nothing is being decided in the short term then. So another day with no commitments. I really am learning to lower my recruiting expectations this year.

For what it’s worth the guy that covers international recruiting for 247 said when Murray commits he’ll be ranked in the top 100. They don’t rank international kids until a commitment is made.

It is tough to keep up with

Virginia is listed in the article 6’7 forward from IL

From his area and the guys I know who watch him absolutely love him. There’s a reason he’s shot up boards over the past year or so. Just based on the top Chicago guys, my gut says Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan as the leaders.

Did we have any contact before the Louisville commit?

Not that I know of. Committed real early last Nov.

Indiana board seems confident, which if that came to pass would help greatly w Kaufman

Why did he decommit? Does he already know where he wants to go? Indiana would be great!

Looming NOA and investigation at Louisville. Wasn’t a fan of how they kept appealing it. According to writer on Louisville 247 board.

Lots of indiana connections to both programs, and Kaufman has said how Indiana having players he is familiar with is definitely a factor.

No yeah I am very much in the Trey Kaufmann is Indiana bound group, but I have also very much been very wrong as well.

That and I like Gregg’s game a lot.

ā€œHopkins seemed to be concerned with the program and its past violations that are still being litigated with the NCAA today.ā€

This would seem to bode well for us.

I dont see any reason to believe he would leave the midwest, especially when he cant take visits and we were not involved beforehand.

But can’t hurt to reach out and get a feel for the situation.

The biggest hope I have is the kid saying development will be key. If there is anyway he can visit on his own, UVa seems like a good fit both on and off the floor.

This kid isn’t coming here. Decommiits are like the sexy new girl at school, everyone is gonna call. He’s gonna get big timed I suspect as both UK and Duke have reached out or as has been said will stay local w IU MSU or ILL
