Popcorn is a terrible snack. Will have it with plenty of butter and salt at the movie theater a couple times a year, at most. When I forget that Goobers are the #1 movie snack.
Raisinettes
You have to work really hard to get a poop emoji from me
Work smarter not harder
I’ll be going more than a couple times just in the next 45ish days. Cinema making a big comeback over the next few weeks.
LRA movie thread?
@jazznutUVA gets us a popcorn emoji and I’m there
We are getting to emoji saturation. LoL
Need a Wiki on how we’re supposed to use each
You’re both right - goobers mixed with chocolate covered raisins
As someone who fully takes advantage of their AMC movie pass, the best snack is whatever you are able to sneak in for free/at market price in the outside world.
During lunch breaks or afternoons where I am off, my local amc lets me bring my backpack in and I usually put in like 1 or 2 bags of candy I bought from Safeway, a chipotle burrito and 1-2 bottles of water. (during the matinee times theres maybe like 4-5 other people in the theater of the movie im watching)
If you don’t care about your health at all, cookie dough bites are an undefeated movie theater snack.
Some wild takes here. Buttered and salted popcorn eaten in huge handfuls is the unrivaled movie snack. It also gives you more instances of tastebud contact throughout a film than candy and, as a savory snack, pairs better with a sweet beverage.
I’ll now break down via film the satisfaction, as indicated by facial cues, of movie goers munching on popcorn vs. other alternatives…
Yeah I don’t know why but I always get the large popcorn, the trick is have them fill half the bucket, butter, fill to top then bucket again. 50/50 on if we get anywhere close to finishing it. If I’m really into the movie it’s gone because the Cuts large handfuls method takes over without thought…
@UVApride7 is right though, the cookie dough bites are the top tier snack. Only candy I’m buying at a theater. Damn those things are good.
Anyone see F1 yet? Definitely want to see that one in IMAX.
Viewer scores on the review sites are like 98% positive too. Nothing gets that high!
Buttered popcorn while eating = unrivaled
Buttered popcorn after eating = feel like absolute garbage
Part of it is mindlessness of eating it during movie and you never feel full, so you end up smashing a ton of it and your body is like WTF.
My preferred option: I usually go to Alamo Drafthouse in DC. Next level food choices there. Get a beer and some chicken tenders and fries during a movie? Life altering.
Massive recliner chairs, too. So if you’re seeing Gladiator 2 you can just pass out for 30 mins and not miss anything.
Alamo is the move 100%. We don’t go anywhere else much now that there’s one on 5th street
Like them both, but goobers and raisinettes are my favorite. Of course, doesn’t really matter since I haven’t been to a movie since covid.
I get grossed out by those food-movie combo places. I’ve seen a normal theater floor and can’t imagine what gets spilled at those bistro type spots. Also beers during a movie mean I’m destined to have to run to the bathroom.
I do want to see 28 Years Later though.
Popcorn by itself - ok.
Chocolate covered caramel - ok.
Together??? Sooooo good!!
