Superman is great. A lot of fun. Maybe too many things going on and could have used 10-15 more minutes but I love this take on both Superman and Lex Luthor. Very energetic and comic book like.
Probably going to be better than Fantastic 4, which has been giving me flat vibes so far.
Yeah saw it a couple hours ago, had a leftover free ticket to Regal. Very good, James Gunn movies just have a rhythm to them that works for the comic book/superhero genre. There were a couple things that could have been a little more fleshed out for the sake of key moments feeling more impactful, but otherwise it felt like an early 2000ās Sam Raimi Spiderman-esque perfect match in terms of the vibe fitting the character. Also Iām not sure you could have a better Lois Lane than Rachel Brosnahan.
I saw it last night as well. Fun movie. I wouldnāt say it was great from an overall story standpoint, but it was really well put together (the attention to detail is fantastic), and the vibes were great. It was the first unabashedly āpositiveā superhero movie Iāve seen in forever. I hope it does well, and reviews are good and the early reports say Thursdays box office was strong, so its off to a good start.
Edit - Also, without getting into spoilers, there was something really fun about Nathan Fillonās Green Lantern. Iām not sure Iāve ever seen āheās a hero but heās also an assholeā done in quite that way before.
I read that Fillion took inspiration from Sophia on the Golden Girls, which is great.
Looking forward to seeing the movie, I just recently rewatched Man of Steel and thoroughly did not enjoy it (no character development, incredibly strange pacing, seemed to delight in the destruction), so I need a palate cleanser.
Havenāt been reporting back⦠saw Jurassic. It was fine, more geared like the originals. Ended on what I thought was kind of a lasting note as opposed to continuing a major franchise so weāll see where it goes.
Saw Superman. Freaking awesome if you actually like comics. Much more comic-y type fun than the marvel movies if that makes sense. If youāve even thought about seeing it, GO. Youāll have a blast. Post creds arenāt worth waiting for if you donāt want, nothing continuing anything.
Double post I tried watching Minecraft⦠man that was horrible. I made it approximately 3 minutes in and couldnāt take it anymore.
I watched Sinners. That was OK. Idk I didnāt think it was all it was made out to be. Not a bad movie but for the hype I didnāt think it was very good.
Caught Superman tonight and had a fun time. I felt that James Gunn mostly got the tone of Superman right, although the script is a bit too cute/jokey for its own good at a few points. A little bit overstuffed, but nice to see a good Superman movie for the first time since Christopher Reeve was wearing the blue and red suit.
Reporting back on fantastic 4. Wife loved, if Iām being completely honest I thought Superman was better. Movie had some good humor moments, thought it couldāve used more Galactus fighting. Worth staying for the first post cred, second one no big deal.
Side note: wife didnāt want to travel back across the mountain tonight so we watched it at our local theater. I gotta say it Alamo is unbeaten in theater going experience. Itās not even close. If you havenāt been, you wonāt understand until you go then go back to a regular theater.
That scene of her walking to the professors house, entering the house, the silence, the passing of time, and then the walk to the car and the drive home was amazing. Way more impactful than a generic showing of what happened
Iāve watched several interviews with Eva Victor, the filmās writer, director, and lead actor, and she always had that specific take on that event. Her script won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at Sundance. I hope the movie does well at the Spirit Awards and her screenplay gets nominated for Best Original at the Oscars. Quite a talent.
Sorry, Babyās the best movie of the year for me so far. Kinda want to see Eva Victor do a horror movie next considering the house in the scene Hooandtrue described feels like a callback to the menacing āfaceā of the Amityville Horror house and the eery menace in those scenes with the main character by herself/themself in the house at night filled me with so much dread, brilliant
Saw it last night. The contrast between the horrifically awful incident that underpins the whole film and the beautiful moments of human compassion was really incredible to watcha
